I'm not exactly sure. You could instruct me on the matter.

What I do know, is that Mormons have their 'bible' like book, The Mormon Book or Book of Mormon, not sure which is first and which is second.

I also think that Mormons believe that the 'gospel' started earlier, than stated in the bible. Around the beginning I think, Adam & Eve maybe, or the 'creation', not sure.

Wat I know otherwise is just the usual business such as: difficult relations with R.C., Orthodox, and other Protestants and Anglican Churches. That somehow Utah is the 'headqarters' I think. Recent Olympic games gave Mormons favorable coverage, the group is still getting flack for having promoted some form of polygamy, don't believe it does any longer!!! ...

and ... I LOVE THE MORMON TABERNACLE CHOIR.

That's it!

Oh yeah, the whole church was founded by a man, ... John Smith?!?!? or something, whom Mormons consider like a sort of prophet. Also, the church originated in Palestine, and for reasons unknow to me, it's adherents sailed to America (no idea when, maybe early 1700's)

That's really it now!

... so to answer your question,

Mormons believe in a different enough version of the scriptures to have created their own, and also believe that this man whose name I forget, is the founder and sort of Moses (prophet) of the Mormon Church.

The guy was Joseph Smith. Not John.

Watch the South Park episode. It's spot on with the origin of the the Mormon religion. I grew up with a bunch of Mormon friends so I know a bit about it.

Oh, and I am not putting it down, since we all know how tacky South Park can be. If it clears it up, I also thought the episode on the book of Job was just as true and funny.

My best friend in high school was a mormon. He used to tell me that Polygamy was old school mormon lol. Anyway, mormon's bible has an extra book in it, the book of mormon. The youth in the congregation follow a rule book called "for the ___ of our youth" i forgot that one word. I have a copy of it somewhere packed away with my other books. Girls are to wear one piece bathing suits. They discourage going steady when you date at a young age. Group dates are encouraged. They don't believe in birth control. Family values are very traditional. Mormons believe in respecting God and others and themselves. Men have to go on a mission when they are 19. For women this is optional. My highschool friend actually just left on his mission this morning. He is going to Costa Rica. Mormons believe in evangelizing, or spreading God's word, to others. Mormons have strong faith communities. They are discouraged from marrying outside of the faith.

I am a evangelical lutheran. Very liberal Christian. But I feel it is only fair to know about other religions prior to making a choice as to which one is best for you.
