My older sister and I were at the debut in Anaheim with our parents in July of 1955, when it opened. They didn't have to push the 'Magic Kingdom' part, it lived it. It was everything a child dreamed of, come to life. Huge walking-around animals from Disney characters, chatting with you and allowing pictures to be taken. We went every year because my grandparents lived in Laguna Beach, nearby. It NEVER got old. Last visited in 1975. Only gripe I ever had was, by the time I finally hit the height sign to be able to drive the bumper cars, I had already had my driver's license :-( Haha, how sad. I had the opposite. I was very young but too tall for my age and forced to ride the big rides. I guess at Disneyland it doesn't matter as much because they have mostly whimsy rides. But at knots and magic man I was scared. |

I have a question, we have Disney passes. At California adventure they have paintings of ther older Characters. One is called Oswald. He looks like Mickey with long rabbit ears that stick straight up. Who is he? Did he have any shows? My son loves him. is this the one? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oswald_the_Lucky_Rabbit |

Bugs!! Double post. But it reminds me that as a kid I had a bugs bbunny toy that you pulled a string and bugs would say 'what's up doc'. Darn nerd neighbour pulled it apart to figure out how it worked and couldn't put it back together again.

Once lived within driving distance - Disneyland. Got a pass and
used to go whenever friends were visiting or on a nice cool cloudy day off-season when the crowds were light just for kicks. Used to eat before or after and sometimes pack a couple of sandwiches rather than eat at the park. Would hit all my favorite rides - walk around people watching. It's the greatest with kids because of all the simple enjoyment that they experience. So here are some of my questions: How do you like to visit the park? I mean where do you go first and what are your must visit locations? What do you think are some of the less famous or less attended areas which people should try to see? If you stay at the park, which hotel do you prefer and why? What do you think about staying in one of the places outside the park and taking in some of the Americana in and around Anaheim? |
