Hi --

I'm new to Mingle2 and glad to be here. Can't wait to meet some people who I can chat with and maybe meet and grow closer to!

However, the first thing I saw on my profile was this title in the browser top bar --

"bob_kemp56: Newly Single Looking | Weston Senior Singles"

Hey! I'm only 55-years old! I'm not a "senior", those are people in nursing home or managed care! I'm just a guy!

Can you please remove that "senior" business? I LOOKED for a way to get rid of it and couldn't!

Thanks!

Bob

ps. I don't know if this forum will notify me by email when a reply is posted here or what, but I don't need a reply, I just want the title NOT to say senior! You are making me feel old and I bet I can have a contest pulling weeds in my gardens and a man half my age will drop on the ground exhausted before this "senior"! ha!....bk

Hi bob_kemp,

I just looked at your profile. You must be seeing an ad that gets generated from Google. That has nothing to do with Mingle2. I didn't see anything about a senior there. I'm sure others won't see anything unless it's a generated ad.

The reason I think it might be an ad is because I can't see ads on my program and so when I went to look at your profile (and I even double checked) I didn't see anything about a senior.

I think an admin can clarify what each person sees better than I can. I have contacted the admins to look into it

Good luck,

Kim

You're old enough for AARP.

Hi --

Well, I guess it does come down to the definition of "senior", AARP probably wants it a lower age since that's how they get funded!

Thanks for the warm welcome Leigh2154! I looked at your profile and I think that Crossville, Tennessee might be a little far away from me in Weston, Texas for us to pop off for a beer and game of pool, lol!

yellowrose10, I don't know, when I click my profile, the "Weston Senior Singles" line is on the browser top margin and it's still in the code, so I don't think it's a googl ad.

Will someone please click my profile and look at the top of their browser and tell me here if they see that?

It says, "bob_kemp56: Newly Single Looking | Weston Senior Singles"

Thanks

Bob

Your Browser, is reading the <title> line
of your particular web page, same as mine.
That is the line on a web page that
identifies the web site.

Some Browsers do not read this, I happen to,
same as you.

I believe that <title> line is filled in
when you enjoin Mingle2, and forever after
shows as the header on your Browser.

All I see is bob_kemp56 "Newly Single Looking". The senior part is likely only something you're seeing.

Hi Bob,

Mark (admin) has been notified to look into it. Apparently some see it and some don't

Hi --

I've written client-server code for Windows and the title line is generated somewhere in the script. As soufiehere said, some browers ignore it and apparently IE doesn't.

Whoever is responsible for the script for this website, whatever language it is in, could simply search for "title" in it. There's certainly some logic that looks at the user profile database age field and if the age is over X years, inserts "Senior" in the title field html code for the page. Or many possible variations of this logic, all equally fixable (could be in a template, for instance).

It's about a 5 minute fix IF the decision is made that it needs to be fixed. I vote to fix it (obviously).

Closing this thread now...unless someone still wants to post here...

Bob
