Amazing how old some of these movies are (i.e. Blade runner, star wars, aliens, etc).

It is. And I prefer these and even older scifi films to the majority of scifi from the last 15 years.

"The day the Earth stood still" is still a watchable enjoyable movie to me.

The quality of sci-fi released in the 70s and 80s were vastly superior to the straight-to-video attempts of today. Stories from urban legends told through the eyes of crazy open-minded directors with no filter. That's hot. bigsmile Blade Runner is my all-time favorite Harrison Ford flick, next to Star Wars. glasses

I think they're vastly superior to the theatrically released ones of today.

I have more of an appreciation for Blade Runner thrity years later than I did when I saw it on VHS way back in the days. I mean, as a 9 year old kid, I loved the visuals. And what boy wouldn't want Daryl Hannah jumping on top of him and trying to choke him out with those long legs? Lol.

Blade Runner (Much like Tron which also came out in 1982) is a film that was so way ahead of its' time. The film dealt with cloning way before we even wanted to think about cloning a damn sheep. Lol. This movie asked, "What makes us human"? I mean, Hauer's villain has such humility to him that when he dies at the end, you feel so sad for him. Ridley Scott knows how to make a damn good sci-fy film. He did it with Alien and recently did it with Prometheus. In my opinion, Blade Runner is his best.

There have been so many re-edits of this film. Mr Scott is one of my Fav Directors, but he really should have left this film alone. The voice overs were awesome!
