My hero is Gene Simmons of KISS. He became my hero in 1977, when I saw KISS perform for the first time. I was seated very close to the stage, but off to one side. While the drum solo was going on I could see Gene standing just off stage. He had a towel around his neck and was drinking water or juice or blood or whatever he drinks while off stage.

A beautiful, young woman wearing a rabbet's fur coat and sporting a Farrah Fawcett hairstyle walked over to him. She wanted to kiss him, but he wouldn't let her because it may mess up his makeup. But, she kept after him. He finally turned his back to her and bent over. She got up on her toes and kissed Gene's Butt! While this was going on he made eye contact with me, smiling hugely. And I shouted "GENE, YOU'RE MY F***ING HERO!"

Mega Man because his games entertained me for hours on end years ago.

My mom for fighting back against my father and the stuff she had to go through in life to raise me and my sister.

Lars Ulrich, because no matter how much he sucks he is utterly convinced he is gods gift to drumming, and that has to be admired in a strange way.

And anyone who puts there life on the line everyday to help others or make the world a better place for someone else.

There are a bunch actually. I will keep it kind of general even though some specific people come to mind.

People who serve their country. And the families that get dragged through a knot hole then kicked to the curb if their person gets hurt or killed or we decide we just want to lay them off because we are too lazy to stop the profiteering or don't have the stomache for the fights we start and then bail out on.

People that support themself in the world at the everyday kind of jobs that most of us overlook and under appreciate. Jobs most of us can't wait to leave but they manage to raise families on, pay disportional taxes from, and usually don't out live long enough to really have much if any retirement until they drop in tier tracks.

Foster kids. Our system annialtes families, friendships, and puts them way behind in their education but many of them still survive even though they don't have the developement to know what or why we say we care but prove we don't.

People who just don't always stay in the boundries when it really benefits others. It takes great courage to risk, blow the whistle, or try something that is not proven.

Is Gene S still your hero till this day, or have you moved on to another hero?

He is still my hero, but the reasons are more complex now. He's a man of arguably limited talent that has made himself into a Rock & Roll icon.

I agree. John Wayne didn't serve in the military for good reasons, which are documented in the link I supplied. He also tried to join the OSS (precursor to the CIA), but was unsuccessful.

I don't have any human heroes. I do respect some people though. like John McCain.

in terms of mortals though,, Id say definitely my parents who overcame incredible obstacles and made the sacrifices to give their children the best life they could and to become successful and not lose their spirit or their heart
