 Happy birthday. I'm so sorry it wasn't a special one. It seems to me that are many genuine people on this site who do care and are willing to listen and offer encouragement/advice when needed. We all have bad days and need to vent, what are friends for? My thoughts are with you and keep in mind, you WILL get through this. Best wishes. |

What kind of horrible country are you from?
Seriously in Canada if a beautiful women is sitting at the side of the street crying shell have a crowd in minutes trying to console her. The least you'll get is a player swooping in to try and get laid. But the people who walk by aren't just going to let you cry. Someone will do something! That's horrible it has happened to me before, but my mom called at like 3AM because she realized it just a tad late lol, But in foster care nobody cares about your birthday, you go upstairs and say "its my birthday" your foster parents might say "happy birthday now eat your breakfast the bus is going to be here soon" your foster siblings couldn't care less either. So I've gotten used to people forgetting. My dad rarely remembers either and my friends only remember because of Facebook lol! You know what you just have to think about, you don't need them and if they don't remember your birthday screw em! You are a valuable human being and if they cant realize that then you don't need them. Don't get sad their are people who care and when you find a boy friend, he better freaking remember! I personally program my phone with people's birthdays that way I get a loud notification telling me to call them. Anyone important I give myself a day heads up invade it slips my mind. You should never be ignored on your birthday! Find new friends lol, since you can't find new family just ignore them they don't deserve to call you family! |

First of all thank you so much for still being here sending me your greetings,(Pacific and caliente) it`s so nice!!!
I almost though this thread was dead by now so I was surprised to see you kept writing... Joel, the country I live in is not horrible, only the people I know are horrible, hahaha. I must admit, I am used to my family forgetting or ignoring me on my birthday ... it´s a family thing, they sometimes seem to be very cold people and it sounds awful but they aren´t that bad,they just say "happy birthday" and give me a kiss on the cheek and that´s all.they are not into parties , that´s all. Although i was a bit surprised that my siblings acted that way, because they do know what I´m going through and they didn´t even call me or send me a congrats message. Well, my sister did, at 1 pm saying her cell phone battery had run out (took her 24hs to notice she didn´t have any battery charge!! seriously?) Anyway, that group of students who made me a birthday cake helped me feel better and all you comments too!!! I also bought a nice take-out dinner the other day , only for me! and I will get that precious beer I owe myself!!! maybe this weekend... It´s hard but I have learnt that being alone is better than having bad company so, thank you all!!! :-) |

I haven't celebrated my birthday, or even gotten a happy birthday wish since I was a kid. Didn't have too many parties growing up either.
Lol, my mom sometimes even forgets how old I am or when my birthday is. I told my grandma I love her today and gave her a hug, and it sort of shocked her. She smiled and I it was clear that she appreciated it though. I do think it would be nice if that were more of a normal thing though. My family isn't big on saying I love you and giving hugs or having parties either, except more for the kids. I have taken care of my nephew since he was born, as if he were my own son. I tell him I love him and give him hugs and kisses all the time. It's funny, he'll push me away sometimes, but he is very sweet and cuddly. He's only five, so I know he'll grow out of it, but I don't think it hurts to get as many hugs and kisses and cuddles in before grows out of it. lol When I'm in a relationship, I like to be very affectionate, spoil with compliments, and express my love to her very often. |

Reading over your post and replying rather lately here due to my recent inactivity, but really agree with the vast majority of it.
Here, or at least where I live, being sad, depressed or upset seems to be more of a sign of weakness and foolishness. It is as if the constant rush of the world around you has no time for anyone who just wants to take a step back away from it all. Having gone through some stuff in the last month or so that has kept me rather down, I have not really had anyone to turn to for support or guidance. In such a case I did what I usually do, I take time out and re-weigh life, options and thoughts. It helps me clear my head and get back in touch with the world around myself so to speak. I do think "we are allowed to be sad", even if the vast majority around you may not think so. You can't worry about what anyone else thinks, only how you feel and what work best to make you feel better in that given moment. I know there is a popular belief among some people that depression automatically should only be treated by professionals or medication, but sometimes it just needs time to solve itself. Anyway, Happy Belated Birthday all the same. I hope your next one is amazing. |

Totage: I do the same with my two little nieces, so far they seem to like a hug once in a while, and the eldest is very affectiionate. I think that if I didn´t have the chance to have that kind of relationship with my parents, at least I´m going to try to have it with my nieces
Kartage: thanks for your Happy b-day. I tottally agree with what you said, about people being in a constant rush. ut i do not think i´m depressed, I do think i have bad days and particularly my b-day was an awful one, but now i´ve got a whole year in front of me to organize a good one next year!! hahaha |

I'm sad.
I think duality makes people interesting. The less you swear the more shocking it is when you do. If you're typically happy then your sadness is surprising, so that can be appealing, to learn a new dimension of someone. But to quote a great movie - "Are, uh... are you alright?" 'Naw, man. Naw - I'm pretty [redacted] far from alright.' |

Can we even say we are sad in this site without people thinking we are just a grumpy, biiter and sad person? There's so many grumpy and bitter people on here already, people wouldn't even notice one more. Haha. This. :D |

Thank you all. I have forgotten about this post already and I posted thsi 2 months ago, wow.. time flies... I´m better, at least trying to. It´s hard to forget some things that happened to me, but I just don´t care about what happened at my last B-day, I´ll just to make the next one count!!
