I don't pledge my "allegiance" to any flag....
guess that makes me anti-american too.

Lady, love ya dearly, but the flag is a symbol of our country..

"..and to the republic for which it stands..."

Are you sure you stand by your statement? I can't believe that! what Not from your posts!

The flag DOES NOT represent the govt! it represents the ideals our nation was founded on!

It is a pledge to defend her (our country) from "ALL ENEMIES FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC..." even a govt that seeks to destroy her from within!

Its a piece of cloth SS.

If there has to be a Flag lets have a flag of Human Decency.

I do not need a flag to worship so to speak to be what I am.

Believe me I have seen Hatred between people carrying their different flags...I am talking about supposedly Christians and both born within a few hundred yards of each other.

As Dear Old George Carlin once said...

"Flags are Symbols and they should be left to the Symbol People"

My experience of people who adore flags have little between their ears.

Yes lets just create our own flag of freedom. I'll design one.

I can agree that values vary from intellect to intellect, person to person, and so on.

The flag of my country I have spilled my blood for! Not corporations (tho they may have been the sponsors of war), not my govt (tho they may deem themselves the power that demands it)!

In war it was the symbol of my struggle, shared by the person on my left, right and covering my back. The blood of many before me was spilled to ensure its colors did NOT run!

I love my country, symbolized by its flag, but my govt is becoming an enemy of its own design by actions against the principles it stands for!

If we choose to disregard the flag of our country, let's also disregard religion, freedom, rights and all it stands for!

Let's become what we all say we despise most....Zealots! Extremists, Bigots!...in a word TERRORISTS, bent on enslaving people to a single will rather than a freedom of individual expression, compassion and morals!

I'm shocked at you Jeannie! A One World flag?

Like NATO?

Surrender to the globalist agenda of a one world power?

With who in control?

Us?

You?

Them?

Bankers?

Give up our nations Sovereignty? Our Independence? Our Constitution? Our Bill of Rights? Our rule of law?

No, its not a flag for the world. It is my own personal flag of freedom.

But anyone who truly wants freedom, can use the flag.

The American flag, with its stars and strips, actually represents the United States, which is a corporation.

You can place any meaning on any symbol you like, its only a matter of what it means to you.

(I know this all too well since I read tarot cards. My system of reading the cards, which are symbols, is my own personal system.)

If the American Flag means freedom, then it is close to my heart, but if I am "required" to pledge allegiance to it and to what someone else thinks it means, (like the corporation) then it does not represent freedom anymore.

If I needed a flag, (which I don't) it would be a flag or symbol that represents freedom.

You are entitled to your opinions Jeannie, no matter how misguided they may be. That is what makes America great!

Yes, the US is a corporation. A corporation of united states, incorporated by cities, townships and trade between themselves, and now the world. Governed by a constitution and rule of law, symbolized by a flag of freedom, earned by the blood of patriots, to ensure your rights and freedoms under its banner!

I would not recommend however that you suggest such a thing while on a military base. For while a soldier may answer a call to duty for the wrong reasons, it is in service to our flag and what it represents that their loyalties are sworn!

It is said that Michelle, our 1st Lady, stated to O at a Memorial Day ceremony.. "All this for a damn flag!?" You bet lady! Cuz the blood of patriots means something to this vet!

The flag does not restore those things....it symbolizes them!

Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, now conceals, now discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wiped out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner forever shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Yes I know I am entitled to my opinions.
And FYI My opinions are not "misguided." You are just misunderstanding my point.

So just what do you imagine I am "suggesting?" I don't think you even get the point of what I am saying.

But I will express my opinions anywhere I choose, including a military base. I don't fear a "military base" and I will not be intimidated by that. If this is a free country, then why would I fear a military base?

Vets who get on their soap box about fighting for my freedom should remember that my freedom includes the freedom to not salute or pledge to any symbol or anyone by force, under duress or intimidation. And of course, the freedom to express my opinion.

I said, if I need a flag, (which I don't) it would be a flag that represents freedom.

If and when the stars and strips stop representing freedom, then it will no longer be the flag for me. If and when anyone tries to intimidate me, pressure me, or scare me into saluting or pledging allegiance to any symbol then it is not, at that point, a symbol of freedom.

I hope you understand that.

That is where you and I divide.

I do not need a flag or any symbol to realize what Honour is.

I certainly do not think there is any glory in dying for a flag or country for that matter,

Yes If My people were being attacked as an entire population then I would defend and I wouldn't wait for those in charge to call me.

I would expect those who govern to lead the charge and put themselves in the front line.
