Topic: IF you knew someone was lying to someone... | |

Integrity is both recognizing and doing what IS right.
I would always risk losing a friend to save them from something bad. I would tell what I know!! |

I hesitate to get involved, it's not my nature to attract conflict
However, I would have no problem addressing the issue directly Hey Crap Head, I ran into your wife and kids the other day in the grocery store. I TRUST you have shared this information with my BEST FRIEND?!?!?!? At least he got a heads up that I'm gonna BLAB |

If you knew for a fact that someone on a dating or social network site was NOT at all who they claimed to be and you knew this person was lying to someone you consider a good friend, would you pass on that info or feel they are adults and should find out on their own? First of all it is a damn if you do and damn if you don't situation.... It would have to depend on how close I was to that person and how naive they were... At times it does not matter what you tell them for if they are all googled eye over that person your words would go unheard.... Besides unless we really have solid proof then maybe they lied to us and told the other person the truth if so then are they really lying? But if I had information that was concrete and could show the person the info I would and it would be up to them to decide where to go with it from there... Besides I'm not one that would like to see anyone get hurt... Now if they ask me about them well hell they just opened up the door and I would tell them what I thought of the person or what I have heard about them... But ..........if they have already been told by others and they choose to ignore them then nope I will not say a word~~~~~~ |

Thanks for all the responses. Some of you appear to have had to make such a decision before and obviously learned something from it.
Let's keep in mind, though that the question did say "NOT at all who they claimed to be". I thought I should bring that up because in a case where the person is just flirting around, I, too, would leave that alone in most cases. In some cases, I would probably throw a hint or two out. "Not at all..." meaning... not the sex they claim to be or not the person (drastic age difference, not even close to location stated, married when claiming to be single etc) and other really deceitful lies. ..and yes I know this is a 7' balding banana talking...but, I am not dating and not even chatting to anyone except boards. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! |

There are plenty of gossipy people around to do that job for me. Unless I was directly involved then I see no reason to become involved.

I'd do the same thing if I knew for certain the other was not as they make themselves out to be , older, younger, taller, shorter, opossite gender, ect. The trouble begins when "perceptions" are included instead of cold hard fact. "I just got a feeling he is gonna take you for all you got" As oppossed to: "Here's the link to the article the reporter did when I turned his %$# in" |
