You listen to any Yanni?

We get a ton of Cirque shows here so about everything they do ends up in music collections that I buy out. I'll have to see if I have that one.

You know Yanni to me was a little on the boring side till I sat down and paid attention to his sound stage. Like the Cirque stuff Yanni creates a huge involved stage. And when listening to this type of sound I usually pull out the Kitaro and Vangelis.

The new age camp is one of my favorites and is vast.

I looked through my cataloged Cirque and didn't find Alegria. Doesn't mean I don't have it,just means I'm too lazy today to go through the CDs that are waiting to be cataloged. I have never been disappointed by the Cirque recordings though, like wise their shows.

Today I needed to get caught up on a lot of writing and because all of yesterday I was jamming to Edgar Winter and Steppenwolf I was thinking something mellow. Why not some James Taylor. I ask myself, do I really know how good he is? James is one of the nicest guys on the planet and if you ever meet him and didn't know who he was you may never guess he is a musician let alone one of the greatest musicians of all time. James makes music so easiely it's not hard to put him on the back self. I mean he's one of those that in our minds will never die, he just is a part of our fabric. Ever since Sweet Baby James he has filled the air with some of the smoothest songs and thoughtful lyrics written by anyone. James is mister down home, kick off your shoes and stay a while. I write this now only to get you ready for fall time which will soon be around the corner. When it gets here and your getting your fireplace ready and the apple cider warmed your going to want to have this cd to set the mood.

I love the production of this recording as it is truely a masterpiece in acoustical clarity. The mix of instruments and how they play off of each other is some of the best interaction I have ever heard. James totally nailed October and in my book one of the greatest folk/jazz recordings out there. There's an effortless comfort about this cd that carries from beginning to end as if it were one amazing song of gentle scenery with an occasional energy boost that makes you want to get up and dance only to settled back down in your comfy spot and take in the thoughts portrayed.

My music collection would not be complete without this recording.

I saw steppin wolf at the orange county fair with Joan Jett, it was awesome! I was a little disappointed by the third cirque show I saw, I think I was expecting more WOW but just saw more of the same tricks, my fave thing about it all is the amazing voice they get to showcase their music, it's always something crisp, clean, and beautiful. I think that's why I love the soundtracks so much.

Sometimes I'll go on a soundtrack craze. It's a huge world. I have boxes of them I haven't gone through yet, probably because there are so many good ones that I end up listening to one or two for a week straight. Music scores have turn into some of the best head music out there and usually have a blend of several different types of music melded together in a symphonic way.

Last night I snuck over to Zia records again. It's hard not to go through their dollar bin once or twice a week. Someone must have traded in their electronic collection cause the bin was full of them and since they still didn't have the cd I've been looking for I thought I would buy 2 or 30 cds to comfort me. And since I had new music I needed to stay up and listen all night. The first 2 were OK and I might keep them around for back ground stuff but the 3rd one grabbed my attention. A very techno sound with tons of depth and space. A keeper for sure.

It has such unusual sounds Pepper (my beloved audio dog) sticks up her head and looks at me saying "is that music dad?". The tonal balance is very nice and it gives a great sound stage image to look at while listening. This might even be something I'm interested in using at the CES this year to demo.

Broken Bells is awesome!! Huge soundstage with great production value. Very warm sounding and fills the room with tons of Vibe. They make a cool team and I think bring the most out of each other. It's a must for an alternative rock collection, but fits in a few categories depending on the song.

Let me add, the Shins are fantastic period! They, to me, sound like a modern day Beatles.

This is going on my shopping list. If it sounds anything like it did on youtube and is as open as it appears to be this could be really great.

I'm loving heading in this direction and what's fun for me is putting these things on after they are talked about on here. TuneLand is swaying with sound!

Keep em coming!

Been listening to q-burns "invisible airline" through the night. Very floaty featuring Lisa Shaw on vocals and a special appearance from BB King.

Couldn't sleep.

Right now I'm listening to

An extremely well mixed space oriented recording made for the experience of openness and relaxation. Techno-pop/electronica in some ways has been my modern day classical because of the huge soundstaging and placement. The difference between traditional and electronic being one is from a particular source spot plus how it reacts to a live room, and the other is in motion on it's canvas with a created room.
