MsH and Dragonese must be sleeping.....

Haven't heard yet how this doesn't mean anything, and how our constitutional lawyer, dictator would never allow it to be used, and would never destroy our constitution or bill of rights.

What does it take to make people go slaphead ?

He's going thru our constitution and bill of rights with a red pen saying "this doesn't work for me...." and nobody cares!

Guess our country isn't going to hell fast enough to suit some people! frustrated rant

make note of the words :RESTRICTED AREAS:

basically areas one shouldnt be FOR ANY REASON,,,,,

You should be able to protest the government close enough that they can hear you, this is like when Bush's security made protestors move 2 miles away. It was wrong then and now its a freaking law.

you should not be allowed in a 'restricted area'

we dont get to choose how close we can be to SOMEBODY else every time,,,,just because we want to

thats why people get in trouble with stalking and harassment laws....

There is a huge difference between stalking and this, these are our employees and we should be able to go wherever we need to to be heard.

there is nothing the constitution GUARANTEES, no absolute rights in the bill of rights

there is an expectation of common sense application,,,

like not yelling FIRE in a crowded theater,,in lieu of the 'freedom of speech'

'restricted area' has always meant just that, whether you are there to speak or to get a manicure,,,,

If a politician speaks in a public area, who is protected (at the will of our glorious lead...dictator) by the secret service, and I don't agree with them and want to make myself heard, what right does the gov't have to arrest me for a felony, for using my right to free speech, and voicing my disagreement to an elected or otherwise representative person in that area of assembly? Even when they are generally public areas?

Just send an email for them to ignore I suppose, huh?

Ya'll should just focus on being good little citizens. Follow the rules. Let the people don't want your views to be heard - let them make the rules.

there are many ways to let your views be heard, but you just cant stand wherever you want to speak them or shout them out,,,never have been able to have that ABSOLUTE freedom in every situation or in every place,,,

You are missing the WHOLE point! They want to make every place a "no free speech zone" that they are in!

In other words.... the only comments made without fear of prision......IS THEIRS!

In a blog post, Gabe Rottman, a legislative counsel and policy advisor in the ACLU’s Washington Legislative Office, wrote that "it's important to note — contrary to some reports — that H.R. 347 doesn't create any new crimes, or directly apply to the Occupy protests. The bill slightly rewrites a short trespass law, originally passed in 1971 and amended a couple of times since, that covers areas subject to heightened Secret Service security measures

from politifact.com

take it as you will, as I said though,, this particular 'right' is not one I have personally EVERY had,,being born in 1969

If there is no "real" difference......then why do they deem it nessessary to "enhance" it?

Just let another morsel slide.....soon we will be out of morsels!

Without getting too much into the weeds, most crimes require the government to prove a certain state of mind. Under the original language of the law, you had to act "willfully and knowingly" when committing the crime. In short, you had to know your conduct was illegal. Under H.R. 347, you will simply need to act "knowingly," which here would mean that you know you're in a restricted area, but not necessarily that you're committing a crime.

..basically enforcing the ignorance of the law doctrine,,,,

So they claim a public street in my town as the site for some idiot protected by the SS (the initials fit!) as a rally point, he starts mouthing his rhetoric from his soap box, I yell he's a liar, and I'm arrested, It's ok they say I'm in the wrong?! Even though it is a public place!? THAT'S BS!
