Topic: a weird, persistent clicking noise... | |
---|---|
It keeps emanating from my speaker for no apparent reason. It sounds something like a pencil tapping a wood surface. And every 26 seconds or so. I use Windows XP and the latest versions of my software. WTF is going on?

Cell phones make noise when they're close to a speaker. Could that be your issue?

Could be that the speakers are loosing connection. Or they are blown, mine did that when I blew them out from playing my music at full volume for too long.

I just thought of a better way to describe the noise-a very tiny pebble being dropped into water and making that little plop sound.

I doubt it's my speakers, as they're only a few years old-and they're 5.1 channel surround speakers with a subwoofer.

It's probably your speakers or your sound card. Buy a cheap set of speakers and see if they also have the clicking noise. If they do, then you should replace your sound card.

I wonder if it could be the power supply cycling. Have you had any power problems on your computer?

I wonder if it could be the power supply cycling. Have you had any power problems on your computer? No. And the sound seems to have vanished now. :) |
