If you could own only one player jersey - who's would it be, and why?

For me - it's Ray Bourque #77 Boston Bruins. The greatest Defenseman in NHL history. (Well one of 'em anyway.)
Truly a class act! Forced me to become a Colorado Avalanche fan so I could see him get his name on the cup. Which he did!
It's the only player shirt I own.

Mine would be #20 Brian Dawkins of the Philadelphia Eagles...he's played for them for like 12 years and a lot of times he ends up being the glue that holds the team together as the season progresses.

Ryne Sanberg (chciago Cubs) one of the best in the field and at the plate. I met him once when he was a kid and he was so attentive and nice and I never forgot that. Plus he had a 100 + errorless streak

I'll go with Al MacInnis. #2 is one of the all-time great defensemen in the NHL great history. Wicked slapper and a class act on and off the ice. He might've been born a Flame but he's a Blue forever now.

All right - Patrick R-wah. When the news came out that Harry Sinden was putting Ray on the trading block, Patrick called Ray and told him to get on a plane and check out Denver. The whole media here in Boston had Ray going to the St Louis Blues - who were a powerhouse at the time, and if not the Blues - Dallas. But Patrick promised Ray the cup if he went to Denver - so he told Harry that's where he wanted to go. So after 30 years Ray brought the cup back to Boston (Literally). I think it's the first time in Boston Sports history where a Parade was thrown for a team winning the championship in ANOTHER STATE! We love our sports hero's - doesn't matter where they go, we don't forget them. Unless they go to the Yankee's - of course.

I remember that Eljay. We (Blues fans) were almost ready to start ordering his jersey dammit. Of course that was when the Blues were throwing away the future for the now, we're in much better shape now.

Damn return key! I meant to say that our top 3 D-men would have been Bourque, MacInnis, and Pronger had the deal gone through. The sad thing is is that I think that was the year the Avs beat the Blues in the Western (Campbell) conference finals.

Yes, and the Avalanche lost by one goal in game 7 of the cup. It's why Bourque played one more year - his 22nd. He won the cup that year. (Well - actually the team did. Especially Sakic, who was a native of Massachusetts, and grew up with Ray Bourque as his idol. Bourque was a rookie the year he was born!)
