I do give to the Cancer Society because of my Dad.
BUT I truly believe that we have so much poverty here in America that we need to concentrate on our own people. It seems like they worry about other countries before they worry about our own country. Should it really be this way? ABSOLUTELY NOT! There are many families out there that can not afford to even feed their children and when I see it on the news that we helped another country...to me it is very upsetting. I think they need to focus more on the elderly and the smaller children. There are times when people have to pick between food and medicine...is this right? So stop sending money that we do not have to other countries and maybe just maybe we won't be so far in doubt!!! |

Many European countries receive money, but the multitude of people, do not know exactly where that river of money ends up, I do not dare to think what happens in those countries, so-called third world, where the law of the jungle is very active |

Sure I care about poverty, but I need to get myself out of debt before i can worry about anyone else.
I'm in debt up to my eyeballs. I'm losing my car because the engine went out and I can't afford to replace it and I'm not going to keep making payments on a car I can't drive. I live with a friend. I work for a temp agency, and on my current assignment I make minimum wage. I'm interviewing for better jobs. However, I have food on the table and a roof over my head. I drive my roommate's car, and occasionally borrow the vehicles of other friends while I save up money to buy myself a beater. A friend of mine got injured and cannot work right now. He gets food stamps, but not enough to completely feed himself on that alone. I buy some of his groceries and help him with other things, because while I may not have much, I have more resources at my disposal now than he does. If I thought I had to wait until I was out of debt and all of my own needs were completely taken care of, I'd likely never help anyone... and I think that's true for all of us. But what we send out comes back to us in time. Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again. - Ecclesiastes 11:1 |
