Why do guys email you back and forth then ask for your phone number and you never hear from them again?

Hmm, maybe cause those guys that do that are morons or they just dont want to talk to you I suppose.
I usually never even ask for a phone number cause I figure if the girl really likes me, she will give it to me on her own.

I don't know, I have never done that, so I can't answer. I'm guessing that anyone who did that would either be an idiot or terminally indecisive.

LOL, you know, there are a certain percentage of guys that just may have lost the number! I've actually done this a couple of times, thinking I saved the number to my phone or that it was saved in an email...the *poof*, like a fart in the wind it's gone!

Other than that though, I can't think of why you wouldn't try and get the number again, or if you have it you wouldn't call. Personally, if I want the number I'll ask for it, even if I think I might creep the lady out. Life's to short to wonder about "woulda, shoulda, coulda"...all that means is didn't; and I'd rather say I did.

Ok in reading this I dont understand the guys saying they wouldnt give out THEIR number. And why not? I had a JSH member chat with me for a couple hours the other night and then I gave him my number in case he wanted to talk sometime and not type. He called me and we talked for quite awhile but like the top people said... he hasnt called again even when he said he would. I obviously have his number on my called ID but am I gonna call it? Heck no. I showed him I was interested by giving him the number now he can show me if he is by calling. It would be nice though if those that DONT care to get to know you a bit better would just be honest enough to say why (even in an email in here) so so we know what we MIGHT have done or said wrong. You know though... its their loss if they dont.

I had a thread that no guy I ever e-mailed wrote me back, and some numbskull wrote me, saying he saw my thread (uh, the problem was when I initiated contact, no guy ever, ever responded, not that no guy ever wrote me), I wrote him back, and never heard from him. So why did he write me to begin with?

Wow, this is exactly why I have been so hesitant to join any dating site. I just joined this tonight b/c it is free (big plus!) and the friendly name. I don't know why guys ask for a # and never call. However, I am sure there are women that do the same thing. It is someone intending to be polite at the moment I suppose.
I read all of these success stories on all of these sites so it has to be working somehow. I guess my biggest pet peeve is hearing stories like this and reading all of these profiles of guys that say they are not into games. Dating is such a stressful process isn't it? ***Sigh***

I wasn't sure if you meant after you give them your number, or after you don't. If I'm having an ongoing email exchange with a woman, and she doesn't want to take the conversation to the phone, I have to wonder if 'she' is a fake.
