Every time that I take the flu shot I get the flu. Whats with that?

From what I understand how it works that as we age; older people with weaker immune systems often have a lower protective immune response after influenza vaccination compared to younger, healthier persons. This can result in lower levels of vaccine effectiveness in these people.

I must be one of the lucky ones when it comes to a strong immune sytems as I have never taken the flue shot but I never get the flue.

I get them as I have a compromised immune system. They have never given me the flu. But, I'm sure it's possible in rare cases.

I've never gotten a flu shot and i haven't had the flu in at least 10 years...

I never got the flu back when I didn't get the shots either. I just do it now because of my other health issues. Better safe than sorry.

Actually a lot of people do get the flue after the shot but there is no known reason for this. There was a girl that was 19 and for 3 years that she got the shot; she got the flue. The 4th year; no shot and no flue. All my friends and family seem to have had the same problem. Although when the H1N1 flue vaccation came out; it was discovered that they rushed the shot out without doing enough testing and some batches were contaminated or spoiled. Some got really sick and some even died although that depends much on each person's health. The doctors here now say take the flue shot at your own risk as doctors that recommended a shot for some got sued when the person died. But like anything else, there is always the risk that you can die.

The flu shot is a bunch of dead flu viruses in a suspension. The dead flu viruses can make you almost as sick as the live ones. I used to get sick with every inoculation as a child, which is one reason I skip flu shots.

Humm I get them ever year due to low immune system and have never gotten the flu after a shot... I still get the flu at times but it is never as bad as it is without the shot...

If you absolutely do NOT have to get one, I wouldn't! Haven't had a flu shot in over 20 years and am doing just fine. I don't trust the government and wouldn't surprise me to find out they've injected you with a tracking chip or something.

I wish they would. And, then they could add an intercom to ask them where I am when I get lost. It happens a lot.

Sometimes, the strain they predict for the year is incorrect and people get the flu. Even in those cases a flu shot reduces the length and severity of the flu itself.
