Are we talking about the "King James" version of the Bible. The

version that King James translated to english so that he could

consolidate more power over his subjects by using the church. The

same Bible that made many english subjects flee to America to to get

out of his immediate grasp.

I hate to bear bad news but Jesus didn't speak english. Are there

lessons to be learned about how to live in the bible? Sure! Be

careful about taking it to literal.

Well, since I wasn't speaking in regards to the actual bible nor its meaning, content, or validity; this is a mute point.

However, for clarification, it was the International Version.

I do agree with what you are saying and maybe I missed the point. I think the problem why it does divide us is that I find religous people don't let me freely think the way I want to. I am not talking about you but the religous ones I have met here. I am sure if they could get away with it; they would stone me for not going to church or believing in God. I for one wish no harm on others and try my best to be a good person; helping when I can. I wish we could all live in peace but its just a dream of course. We can't change the world but we can affect a small little area. Goodness knows I have my days when I could just strangle people but I keep my emotions in check as all it would do is make things worse. I respect those around me and try to make thier day brighter by just saying hello or have a nice day. I listen almost every day to my brother complain about how rotten life is and try to get him to see the good. I guess where I get upset is when someone tells me what I need to make my life complete and I am not talking about this thread but in general. You are correct though that if we did treat each other with love and respect; we would have a wonderful world to live in.

I know, you are right.

Atheists, not you, but some, like on these threads, verbally attack the religious, and some of the religious (not people like Ruth or MorningSong, or even Adventure) do appear as though they'd stone us to death.

I am not religious; but I was, in a past life, so to speak, lol.

I think that is because, or at least revolves around the fact, they care far too much and are afraid of what you'll end up suffering in the end.. 'Eternal damnation'. However, some have taken this too far, and others don't even bother with us because we are all just 'devil-spawn'.

I agree, this message may not change anything; but I say, like Adventure did earlier, if even one person hears what I said, and it helps them change even in the slightest for the better..

..mission accomplished. :)

..and btw, no offense taken. :D

I glad that no offense was taken. I do admire you for your posts actually sin. Personally; I would not attack anyone for their religous beliefs as long as they don't judge me for being an aethist. I get tired of being called a bad person because I don't attend church or believe in God as some of the religous types do around here. Fact is whether religous or not; if we all try to treat people with kindess and respect; we would have a much better world. As for Eternal damnation; I think we are living in hell right now so external damnation can't be much worse.

I believe I covered that when I said "Are there
