Exactly..although in my mind, the real "dummies" are the ones that then have a go at you for being 'judgemental' for not wanting anything to do with them after they've misrepresented themselves...it's just mad

Why is that many of our men and women in an online dating site are not truthful, sincere and openminded.why?

in some shape form or fashion ....."everyone lies"

noway.. noway I don't tell lies. shades

so your birth name is "joy4gud"?

if it's not, then it's an example of how "Everyone Lies"

if it is, then it's an example of how sometimes parents can be so cruel

Where did she say her user id was her birth name? If she specifically told you that and it wasn't, then yes, it was a lie. If she didn't tell you it was her birth name when it wasn't, she didn't lie.

no need to specifically tell me..the user name is either the name presented on her birth certificate or it's not ...calling an altered name a User I.D. is an attempt at justification and/or a form of acceptable lying

Not at all. My user name is not my birth name. I've never said it was, either, so there has been no lying about it.

Unfortunately, this is one of the pitfalls of online dating.

Some misrepresent themselves hoping that you will 'fall' for them regardless of the lies...not realising they WILL be rejected them not because of who they are but because of the lies they told.

Maybe I’m just cynical but it does amaze me that some people loose their common sense when it comes to online dating...take whatever is typed to you or said to you with a pinch of salt until you know differently.

That doesn’t mean that you can’t ‘fall’ for someone that you met online someone it just means that until you meet face to face and spent some time with him/her, it’s not really real.

It's not just online dating. It can happen anywhere.

I have to disagree with you Sing. Granted a guy can just as easily lie in realife as he can online but in real life scenario's, if you've met him, he can't pretend to be a 6', musclebound Adonis as easily as he can hiding behind a computer screen or a telephone.

Sure, but he can certainly lie about other things. That's what I'm talking about.

Funches, you must really be looking for people to lie, as you're really, really reaching there. But hey, if you want to assume that everyone is trying to tell you that their user id is their real name, go for it.

it's not lying either way, A user name is a nick name,
you are not supposed to use you're given name.

It is not a lie as it is still you're name
just not you're given name.

Now since it is you're name you could
reply with either if asked you're name
and not be lying.

if someone asked you for you're given name
and you replied with you're user name then
it would be a lie.

Don't even know why I replied to this
as i can see it being a waste of time
trying to explain this.

so it's the Internet's fault why people lie

right...imagine trying to explain it to a police office at a traffic violation stop

well you see officer...it's ok to use a User I.D. name on your drivers license . and besides it's like a nick name so that means it's my real name but just not my birth name ...

it's not any more of a lie then saying you're a
man, or how old you are, a user name is simply
another way to distinguish yourself.

it is a user name not you're given name,
when you enter you're name in the field
it does not say to enter the name you're
parents gave you.

you're user name is not a lie it is
a name to distinguish yourself from
the rest.

if we all used the name's we were given
then there would be a lot of confusion.

There is no lie in a user name as you
nor the internet are not deceiving anyone.

If you were meant to use the name you're
parents gave you and entered something else
then it's a lie.

A nick name is no more a lie then you middle
or last name, no more a lie then you're hair
or eye color. it is simply one more thing that
defines you.

No it's not, it's called a nick name, like cue ball or Big mama.

you won't see it on a n id, people know you're given name yet still call you by the nick name.

No lies involved.

I'm pretty sure they place Big mama and Cue Ball on their tax returns

If they did in place of their given name
then that would be a lie, as it gives straight
instructions as to the name you must place in
those fields.

You know!we all have one thing or the other in mind even outside online dating.why i asked this question is that i came across a man online and eventually we were talking on phone for quite a long time of six months before we met face to face.when we met what i found out from him was nt what he told me when were communicating on line and phone.i felt bad because i had fallen for him and this had me made me to just have the guys as friends.until may be the right man comes but ever since then i dont have that heart to date.am not happy at all.

I think the problem was waiting six

months before you two met ....

Personally, I think it is always best to meet a potential mate

within just a few weeks...

to see if there is any potential for a real relationship to

develop.

A truly interested partner will also make

arrangements to meet on an ongoing basis .

^^ This. I really think it's best to meet in person as soon as you feel you can do it safely.

Do you believe using a nickname of any form is lying?
