Am I the only one who dislikes being called "baby"? I mean, I'm just not that type of girl who likes stuff like that. It's weird. Hahahaa, ok awkward rant done.

OhmygodwhyareyoumessagingmewiththatI'mnotsexyahhhhstoppp! Oh god. It's too funny.

For me, it will depend on who is calling me the cutesy names. From a guy I like? Sure. A complete stranger? No thanks.

You're OK, ba . . . err . . . lady.

Whenever I call my daughter Radiance "Baby", she knows that I am expressing my great love for her. She grew up not having a father. So, after I adopted her, I let her know that I love her just as if she had been born my baby daughter.

By the way, I don't suppose you are familiar with the theme song from the old "Sonny & Cher" TV show.

Even if it's a guy I love/like...I can't stand it. Hahaha.

That's because in American society, the name implies inequality in a relationship.

When the name is used in a parent-child relationship (as it is used in Hispanic families), the name is a term of endearment, with the parent expressing an eternal bond with the child.

In a dating relationship, the name suggests that the woman is somehow still a child needing the man's protection, not the man's equal.

However, people with a Hispanic background do not think the same way.
My Latina late-wife called me the Spanish version of "baby" as a way of expressing her devotion to me.

lol I prefer my new pet names for my ex but, I use to be a sweetie or cutie guy.

I guess I use sweetie in many situations.

Im much more concerned with tone and context than the name. Some can use the word 'woman' in a derogatory tone and context and some can use it as a compliment or badge of respect

same thing with names like 'baby, sweety, honey',,,etc,,,

Not necessarily. I just think it's really cheesy coming from someone I don't know.

I really could care less how the word is used, I just don't like it. Period! Ahhhh!!! It makes me feel like..you know... not myself. I think I have too much self respect for myself.

its not as much about respect as it is preference,,,some prefer to stick to their given name and others dont have a particular preference with the exception of being intentionally insulted

And to think....most women hate being called biatch, whore, slut....unless they do porn. Then it's totally accepted.

I can't stand being called "HUN", or Pooky, or Mr. Snuggles.
