Oh the conservative mindset....The topic realy is about a cap on insane pay to those who have devesated america with their incompetence and greed, at least in the last depression the basterds jumped off the buildings now that they own the political system they get bailed out. The article states verry well how when wealth is concentrated it corrupts politics, with all those tax breaks the 1% have recieved rather than re invest in america have simply gobbled up the media and politicians and with the non stop propaganda has turned many americans into shrills for their points of view, scroll up and y ou will find poor people argueing the case for the 1%. Its no small wonder this country is going down the tubes. ![]() |

so much here,,,
alot of implication that correlation is equal to causation,, possible fallacious logic there,,, child labor is undesirable sweatshops are undesirable valuing human life and allowing people an honest and livable wage for production is desirable I support minimum wage that addresses cost of living changes I dont support maximum wage that suppresses the ability for fair compensation that addresses the correlation between productivity and profit (for instance, if an entertainer/athlete etc... increases their production companies profits, so should their income increase) I would support a pay it forward program which, set 'caps' or wage levels at which people must employ someone else,,,, |

If a Warren Buffett invests in my business and I take that investment by making capital purchases and increase my workforce to accommodate my expansion, do I have more of an obligation to the person responsible for the cash infusion or the workers I hire? |

Why not just make the wages of every job $50,000/yr That would be "fair" Is that sarcasm? It most certainly is not fair. Skilled/educated work is worth more than unskilled work. Dangerous work is worth more than safe work. A limit on salary is dumb. |

The $5-a-day Workday
After the success of the moving assembly line, Henry Ford had another transformative idea: in January 1914, he startled the world by announcing that Ford Motor Company would pay $5 a day to its workers. The pay increase would also be accompanied by a shorter workday (from nine to eight hours). While this rate didn't automatically apply to every worker, it more than doubled the average autoworker's wage. While Henry's primary objective was to reduce worker attrition—labor turnover from monotonous assembly line work was high—newspapers from all over the world reported the story as an extraordinary gesture of goodwill. |

the problem is greed back in the 20s the company was greedy and did not pay a fair wage now the unions are greedy and price themselves out of work if you need more pay and get it -- the price of your product increases thus fewer customers how can a worker making 25,000 buy a product that costs 200,000 cause construction unions raise the price of labor and goods unions raise the price of materials same for auto workers then you have the greedy oil companies that raise prices on a whim and a maybe --- fuel is going up again -- can anyone say -- so much for any upsurge in the economy -- the oil company is sucking up any disposable income again -- so much for buying anything else if you want fuel to keep warm or go from a to b wage increase causes inflation and if you check society income started losing ground in the 70s when major unions increased the cost of there services to the company --- it is history and it ain't rocket science to say business does not need a check on its power would be wrong after all they gave the huge increases the union wanted in the 70s but to say the union is right for unions sake is also wrong i said greed was the problem not unions nor businesses unions priced themselves (in many cases) out of a job; thus cars are made in other countries -- to name one market no car i know of is an american made car -- when did this start in the late 60s and 70s -- gm for one starteds using canadian factories -- shame the unions did not realize what they were doing to themselves |

I would imagine you have responsibility to both, the investor should get a return on their investment, and the workers whose effort maintains those returns should likewise receive a fair compensation for their investment of time and energy |
