we often believe we know everything, AIds is a good example initially , it WAS primarily in the homosexual community so people considered it a homosexual disease , it hadnt spread so far yet for people to understand how it was actually transmitted could put everyone at risk we do that all the time with our 'knowledge', we assume that what we know already is all there can possibly be,,,,,and dont leave room for new information,,,, In the USA, people with a diagnosis of AIDS are still primarily homosexual men, a drug user or both. HIV affects many homosexuals, heterosexuals, Latinos, African-Americans, teenagers, babies and elderly now due to Viagra......HIV is a sexually transmitted disease contracted by many populations of people. HIV in the United States MSM = Homosexual (Men who have sex with men) IDU = Intravenous drug user You can figure out the rest. That graph only targets Homosexuals and drug user not every aspect..... Absolutely it covers every aspect. 27% of people with HIV are heterosexual. It's on the graph. That graph is from the CDC. It's sometimes hard to hear the truth, but the bitter truth is better than a sweet lie. Like I said you chose one aspect here is another and there are like 15 more on the CDC website I'm sure I can find a lot more graphs out there, but I only needed to provide the one to prove my assertion of "In the USA, people with a diagnosis of AIDS are still primarily homosexual men, a drug user or both.". Your graph doesn't refute what I posted, so it's a non-sequitor. But I wasn't refuting or trying to refute anything except that this graph doesn't say its because of their sexuality......there could be other reasons such as monogamy rates amongst specific sexualities....so technically it doesn't prove the point of the sexuality of the individual being why they are at higher risk.....If I am a monogamous MSM living with a monogamous partner the risk go down significantly of either contracting HIV or the AIDS virus. I really do not understand why you always assume I am trying to refute any claims rather than discuss them. Have I done something to persecute you or attack your intelligence in any way?

It is pure ignorance to think that raping an albino will cure someone of aids. As ignorant and disgusting as thinking that having sex with a virgin, ANY virgin.. even a toddler, will cure their aids. Yes, I agree. This maiming and killing of baby girls to get rid of aids has been and still is on going...there are groups TRYING to help and educate. It isn't stopping. Condemnation is the only think left at this point, that we can do. I think its especially important to be outspoken about how horrible this practice is when someone abuses the 'cultural tolerance' card. And I'm not talking about your advocacy for a non-antagonistic dialog - I respect your view and approach. I'm talking about the suggestion that all cultural views are equally valid, equally moral - or that a person from one culture should not 'judge' another culture. This is wrong. If you neighbor beats his wife every night, this is wrong no matter his cultural ethnicity.

The person that started this thread isn't from the United States, but part of the Global Village. By imparting knowledge gained through methods other than another countries closely held beliefs, stereotypes through scientifically learned information from observation or what have you, we impart information to the recesses of the world. In this case, Africa. Through imparting information to natives of another country, the word spread through natives by natives. Rather than untrusted outsiders in a country of mistrust. Therefore, seeking information and input rather than, it pushed upon another. Whereas treating it with informational release without condemnation sends a message more accepted and imparted to natives by natives without leaving our own atmosphere or hemisphere.
