hi everyone im very new user and i cant work out how to activate the im messaging

thanks for that but how do you actually make a request to someone? i have been on the site and i get a request coming in from people i havent met before

On every profile page, beneath the picture there are orange buttons, one of which is "Instant Message" IF that person has it turned on. So you would just go to the target's profile page, and click on it. Up pops the IM screen, you take it from there. If you get solicited for an IM, you simply reply.
