I'm strongly thinking of quitting my job now to go back into childcare. I had this small side job in NY a couple years ago and got a handful of clients, some were friends of friends in Brooklyn. It was a nice little thing I did when I wasn't working for the Administration Assistant. I loved it and kind of miss it. Taking care of a child is so thrilling. I'd love to get back into it and make it official. I can't be stuck in the library forever. I've been thinking about this for way too long and I think its time I start handing out business cards again.

What do you guys think?

Thanks! bigsmile  My sister made these really artsy cards and all I do is stare at them. I could really use a nice change from this pushing paper lifestyle.

I think that is a good idea since it something you would want to do. I am considering a career change. A good friend told me that I would already have good references.

Go back into it, but keep the job you have now till you have enough constant business to be financially stable from the new job alone.

Oh I'm not leaving this job until I am sure this will pan out. I just want to be able to do this right if I am going to do this seriously, manage my time, be sure to get school organized. Once I finish school I'll be FREE finally.

Where is a better place to live? New York or LA?

If I had to choose, then NY, just because of the vast opportunities there. I had such a fun ride living there and grew up a lot. I do love places where I can grow and call home. It was never LA.

When I became single with 2 little kids in the house, I quit a professional position to do child care. I did it for 5 years and have no regrets. At the 5 year mark, I was READY to go back to grown-up-ville for a few hours a day, but honestly - if you are compelled, try it. There is such a demand for quality, affordable daycare! You can always go back to work in a company later. Just my 2 cents.

That's amazing and truly brave of you! I only have a few years of experience. But I loved every minute of it. That's so great you were able to go back when you were ready. I definitely want to go into this. Its been on my mind ever since I left NY. It means something to me.

Follow your heart -- do what you love, the money will follow - (or so they say).

Good advice here -- remember you are never too 'old' for a change. Life is too short - good luck!! flowerforyou
