I buy a lot of the perfume and gift sets after christmas as well. I got a whole bunch recently for 75% off. I just put them up for future birthdays. They don't even look Christmasy.
I also frequent the big twice a year sales at Bath and Bodyworks. I stock up then too.
I'm really picky about my underwear though, but I usually get them on sale at VS.
I tend to buy makeup in bulk on Ebay as well, or sometimes i've gotten coupons where makeup is close to free, and I donate it as well. To Women's Shelters (Great minds think a like)

Mine that I donate to is actually a food bank that has a thrift store where clients get so many items for free. The people who go there are often so poor that a lipstick is the world to them. I also donate dollar items such as shampoo and stuff because these people would have no way of affording even that. If I read a book, or listen to a CD,or watch a DVD that is not one I want forever, I donate that too. If I buy a piece of used clothing and it does fit exactly right, etc. I give them that too. I play with toys a lot such as stuffed animals. They don't get dirty. When I am bored, off they go to the food pantry thrift store.

So, the big question left hanging here is;

Does cheapskate = cheap date?????

I was raised to be frugal. I'm comfortably financially, however.. I probably wouldn't be if I didn't take economic-short cuts as I like to call them.

Some of the things I do:

Never buy holiday candy, wrapping paper, bows etc until AFTER Christmas when it's at least 50% off.

Use of coupons on some of the more expensive items that I buy. (If they are readily available that is.)

When going to the movies (which I hardly ever do) I always stop by the store first and get drinks and candy for whomever is with me and put it in one of the huge purses I normally carry.

I go to garage sales and thrift stores. (I've gotten a lot of beautiful vintage items for far far far less then I would in a vintage resale shop.)

Cutting corners in some places leaves me more money for things like vinyl, vintage clothes and accessories I can't find on my own.. etc.

Is there anything you do to save money?

I do about the same things you do. We have lots of discount and clearance stores where I live; so I frequent them alot. I also keep an eye on flyers for sales. I do my own renos to save money and I recycle things rather than get rid of them. I just shopped at the dollar store yesterday and found some bins that were great for organizing my cutlerly and found some cheap dividers for socks, bras, and underwear. Doing this; I am able to pay off my bills and mortgage faster.

Actually, I am the queen of cheap dates. I hate crappy over priced food. I know all the best dives. I like to drive up and down PCH and the 101 and now tons of awesome places to stop FOR FREE. I like to shoot hoops with someone I don't know. Talk and BS with them, see how open they are to fun with a few "Yo Momma" jokes, etc.

Actually, check out Fredericks of Hollywood. They have some great sales on for lingerie.

Yeah, I like the simplier things for dates myself. Even just going for a cup of coffee, a bike ride, or a walk is better than an expensive meal.

Really? It's hard for me not to spend $100 on a date.

I can't skimp on my cigarettes though. it's always marlboro red 100's.

I used to only smoke that same thing....... until they came out with the Marlboro Special Blend 100's. They're not much different at all, but $1 less a pack.

They used to have those here, but they're no longer cheaper.

UT OH! That means it's just a matter of time before they raise the price here.... tears

I do go to Fredrick's of Hollywood on occasion, and I have also been known to be a cheap date. I love parks.. museums, etc. Also I'm not big on over-priced restaurants either. I'd rather stay home and make dinner.

No, I have never thought of myself as cheap. I set a budget and stick to it for the most part. I do save money by buying used CDs, books or games at Half Price Books. And I love to shop at antique stores and vintage places as well. I don't do coupons, but I do keep in mind which stores usually run the best deals on which items and shop accordingly. I don't mind spending money when I have things I want to do for myself or someone else, but much like you Vintage, most of the things I enjoy (museums, parks, plays) do not cost very much anyway so it all works out. Of all my family, I have been the most careful about my spending habits, and as such I am not in the same situations as some of them. One reason I do have to be careful though, is I do I own my own home, and every time you turn around something is breaking down...lol. Usually right after the warranty expires.

Wow, I don't have guys spending that much money on me; maybe at the most about $50.00 but that would be a meal and drinks.

You take 'em to a nice restaurant you like and nearly $50 is gone already (with tip). Then, if you just do movies, it's $16 per person plus the drinks and maybe a small bag of popcorn...bingo, nearly $100. And what happens if you want to go ice skating before/after? Well over $100. Lots to do in Dallas, lots of moola to do it.

I cook well but I prefer not to work on a date, unless it is ice skating or something else physical. We can cook out on our second or third one.

That's what I do the other 3 weekends. Go to a dancing club/bar with slacks on. Ladies like to dance and it's free after the cover charge.

Ah, normally a guy would either take me to a restaurant or a movie; not both.
