A mask to shroud the reality
That even in the darkest of hearts
Hope bleeds light through the cracks
Purpose is built one emotion at a time
Until all are numbed by the one that overpowers
And in our fear of death, we endure
And in our quest for love, we thrive
Time and the universe, however
These are all that is infinite
As we watch all that matters
Shatter into pieces
Pieces that fade into dust
Such is the idea of memories
Whether lost, regained, or embedded
It is just an illusion
An obedience to a shadow
Chanting, ‘We want more’
Whispered screams of change
Words that fall on deaf ears
Constructed by a blind faith
It is a glance that builds the foundation
The smile that reinforces the walls
The kiss that creates the roof
With chance blowing in the breeze
As reason grows with the roses
As two hearts become one
A rainbow begins to form
While amidst it all and
Without any warning
Three little words that change everything
And love becomes a place
A place we call a home
Even if it is just an illusion
We'll always want more
