I don't participate in gossip because in High school I was a "gossip target" so I know how it feels to be alienated.

It's still fun up here. Like any site you have to ignore the crap. On myspace, it's 10 times worse! People curse you out left and right and the mods don't do anything!

Wildone...I do the same in the "real" world too...I just turn my back , walk away and ignore them, to do otherwise just creates more problems....life is too short to exert my energy on negetivity and those that strive on it.

true..my dad always says "Stress can take you out of this world." meaning it can kill you. Research shows that stress in health conditions make it worse. I learned that in my mom's condition before she passed.

What I meant was in the "real world" you CAN walk away but unlike the computer it can result to a fight, or a verbal attack.

Trust me walking away from drama or foolishness is appropriate and I agree with you!

You are so right. Things have changed around here so much lately. I don' let it bother me, because I do not let myself be caught up in any drama or gossip. If I can't say something good about someone...I say nothing at all. So far, haven't had any trouble with anyone. I may not always agree with someones's opinion... but that doesn't mean it is wrong.

MG/OLD I agree gossip can hurt some people who are not secure in themselves and the people who promote and dish out that kind of stuff are very immature...but as long as there are people in this world there will be gossip. As for burn-out...I think we all need a break at one point or another...I'll disappear for a few weeks at a time...but never because of what someone might say about me...just because we all need change now and again...maybe that is the real root of the problem..that some people have made this site "their life"and take it all way too seriuosly. Just my thoughts

Seriously though, there is a different between gossip, rumor, difference of opinions, and ignorance. I believe all are a result of a lack of immaturity in the speaker, and a lack of self-confidence in the subject.

Also, there are these things called trolls. Some people deliberately threadjack and troll, looking for a fight or argument. This is different that devil's advocate, in that the troll usually isn't trying to prove a point by counter-example.

I think if somoene puts their ideas to the rail, they should expect it to be refuted and argued. I think that is healthy. If you cannot argue for your point, even against people who are deliberately malicious, then you need to re-tool or learn tolerance. Or you could do what most societies do when they feel threatened... but where has that gotten everyone?

I invite you all to NOT claim it as a male-based apathy here.

I used to think much different & then the loss of my wife really showed me what was important.
Folks when you think things are at their worst, I can show you something much worse. Michael & anyone else who has really had someone special taken from there life, will understand. It is an experience that changes EVERYONE, some for the good, some for the bad. The bitterness can eat you up, ONLY if you allow it.

Same in the drama's here, don't buy in, it's lose/lose situation

MG..not to get off subject or anything...but to know Love Peace and Joy, you have to know what Hate, Chaos and Saddness is...its all related..there will always be opposites..Light, Dark, Evil and good...you can't enjoy the Good unless you have tasted the bad....so you will never find the Garden of Eden on any web site or any place else for that matter. JSH is a microcosm of society. There is political intrigue, rumor, and slander juxtaposed with friendship, family and love...where this happens drama ensues.

Food fight in the cafeteria at noon.
Recitals and poetry readings daily.
The occasional bully on the playgrond...and the crazy person that lives across the street.

You know, I've been on sites where drama has reared its ugly head, and for sure, the diversity in cyber space, can create a ummm,,, "melting pot" Ya that's it, cyber is the new melting pot.

Thanx Michael...I don't hear any gossip and I don't see any...Mainly because I don't have friends like that and I take with a grain of salt half the things I see written on here that come in the form of gossip...I don't let it bother me and if I ever feel the need or want to know something I would go to the source first!!!!!!!

Hummm well I just read this post and to be honest I guess I have been in my own little world lately and have no clue what this is all based on or what happen.

But as it has been said you can not make everyone happy all the time people talk all the time. You have a choice to either take it to heart or ingore or one can listen ponder on it and take bits and pieces from it. It all depends on the source in the first place. And what motives lay behind it who will gain from it in the long run.

Gossip is just that Gossip if they have nothing else in life to do but to put another down or try to take them down. They are not much of a person themselves.

If we focused on ourselves and took the time to see what is wrong with #1 and corrected those things we would not have the time to find out what is wrong with someone else. lol
