Voters continue to believe strongly that the federal government’s actions are encouraging illegal immigration even as the Obama administration announces bias charges against a popular Arizona sheriff for his anti-immigration efforts. Also this week, the U.S. Supreme Court sped up its review of the Justice Department’s legal challenge of state laws aimed at stopping illegal immigration.

If an American were caught illegally in another country we would be thrown in their jail no questions asked! How big of a problem do other countries have with Americans illegally attaining residency and thus living off taxpapers dollars; healthcare, "civil rights"? Just saying...

I find it an interesting application of civil rights laws.

Illegals are entitled to them, but if they label an actual American citizen as a terrorist they can just drop a bomb on your head with no due process..

I suppose they feel "terrorists" aren't going to vote or donate money to their campaigns..

I live in California and its heartbreaking how many live here and off of government expenses when they start having children. Its absolutely disgusting to see them take jobs out of our hands for pennys on end.

I would really like to know how it is that these people get away with it?! And I don't know if anyone watched the republican debates or not but really Newt, it's OK if they've been here for 25 yrs or more! So as long as they are able to keep up with their lie and serve in our forces (while convincingly lying) are members of our churches (while convincingly lying) and have children who go to public schools... it's ok?! So Newt...if I break into your house, steal all of your money and belongings and say I didn't do it... all I have to do to not get in trouble is live off all the money I made selling your belongings for 25 yrs and serve in the armed forces...I'll take that deal! These people are criminals, well meaning criminals some of them, but criminals just the same! And again I ask, how do they get away with it for so long?!

As Violet probably already knows, here in CT one mayor is trying to strip CIS of authority within his city citing that if illegal immigrants don't have to hide and skulk about, then crime rates will drop. He even wants to give them ID cards to cut down on fake IDs and identity theft because of the black market that caters to illegal aliens.

I personally don't see how condoning illegal immigration like this is going to help curb the flow of illegal immigrants. Around here, many of them come here through a sponsor, like a work visa, but then refuse to leave once the visa expires. Many originally begin working in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, then move north to Connecticut to disappear. That's when they need a new identity, and contacts within our own state government illegally manipulate the system to accommodate them.

Not to mention we have two major latino gangs - nationwide gangs - that are heavily involved in the drug trade. I don't know how many of them are here illegally, but I know at least some are. That's because I worked with one of the gang leaders. When our employer found out about his wrap sheet, INS came in an hauled him away right there at work. I found out the full story because the person who pulled up the wrap sheet was someone I had worked with at a previous job as well before he took a job with the local police department.

How can American Politicians say how secure America is when we allowed millions of undocumented workers in the country? Some of these illegal immigrants are involve in some serious drug gang related violence. I would not feel safe living in the southwestern United States.

ITs interesting to remember that a large percentage of americans also believed the healthcare reform included a death panel,,,,

Illegal's cant serve in our military.

Illegal is illegal period. They are criminals EVERY last one of them and they all commit MULTIPLE crimes.

Every last one of them is involved in some sort of criminal activity.

OF COURSE the government encourages illegal immigration! The Democrats see future Democrats and the Republicans see cheap labor!
