I understand peeves... bring a case of Guiness and we'll chat all night. haha.
But peeps not listening... talking about chit as though they're experts but in fact don't have a clue about the topic... unsolicited advice, comments, pffft... it's just retarded sometimes.
I've altered my profile to say that I was 5'1' AND 350lbs... bald and cross-eyed.... then to, all but "Leave me the Frick alone..." still I get emails, haha.

People... I love 'em. They're the scum of the earth... just like me.

I made a mistake on a profile on another site one time and accidentally listed my age as 76. I still got emails from 20 yo BOYS

It's funny, I don't consider myself old - although, too old for a 20something - but I also remember being that age and believing, along with a lot of other 20somethings then, 40s were so far off (I'm now 43), I'd/we'd be dead by then anyway.....Maybe the age death pit for this generations 20something has been extended beyond 40something :)

That's a completely different kind of scam. They don't even need Yahoo for that one.

Could it be you are just too hard to please Lex.?

You post in previous threads that you are feeling alone so yea maybe folks don't read all you write but they are respnding to you so you don't feel lonely and forgotten. Take it for what it is recognition that you are noticed and maybe even interesting.

A nudge doesn't oblige you to do anything.

So what if it is a scammer? Maybe they are as lonely as you are? Life must suck pretty bad if that is the only way you can make it in the world. Probably they have a quota or something.

Just a frame you could put around it rather than let it give you heartburn.

I don't think that's the problem. Back when I used to respond to nudges from strangers, the follow-ups would ALWAYS be (I do mean ALWAYS) "Here's my Yahoo address, send me a note and I'll send you some of my naughty pix!" I'm sure if I responded to that one, she would be asking for money for those pics.

And I'm just not interested in any of that.

You would have to see the follow-up communication to get my point. "You seem interesting, I would love to be with you so we could start the family and live as happy." If anyone had read a dozen of my posts, or had read my profile, they would know that I'm not looking for anything along those lines.

In the end, the nudgers are trolling for return nudges or e-mails so they can distribute their smut for a profit. They have boilerplate e-mails they send out to those who respond. I know this stuff, I've been catching scammers for years, and these people couldn't care less if I'm feeling lonely or forgotten. They just want to get in my wallet.

A nudge doesn't oblige you to do anything.

And it's safe for the scammer, too, since it includes no indicators which would identify the person AS a scammer. It's a way to gauge interest, I suppose. If they can snag someone who is interested in getting the naughty pics, they can assume the person won't report the scamming. But they've reached the point where they're being a little more cautious about the first contact.

So what if it is a scammer? Maybe they are as lonely as you are? Life must suck pretty bad if that is the only way you can make it in the world. Probably they have a quota or something.

A significant proportion of them aren't even women. They're guys posing as women on line to lure in the guys.

No heartburn. A minor annoyance, when I get 5 or 6 in a row. But I enjoy finding them and getting them nuked. I take some satisfaction from knowing that I've inconvenienced them, even if only briefly. Sure, they may come back with another fake account when the current one gets taken down, but they won't be bothering any of our members for a little while.
