I pray for your little one with Down's. One of my residents is a 38 year old with Down's. It is a struggle to keep the CPap on her at night. She got so frustrated with it last night she took it off. With her long hair the hair acts like a lubricant so every time she turns in bed I have to go in there and re-position the mask. It was quite an ordeal last night. I had to tell the nurse the resident refuses to wear the mask and tell her I needed her stat. The resident had slung the CPap off her. When the stupid CPap isn't on right it blows in her eyes but with sleep apnea she has to wear it. She says the air burns her eyes. We have to keep her head elevated and her feet elevated so she will quit trying to slide down in the bed. She wants the double rails on so she doesn't roll off the bed. And management wants her turned every two hours. It just makes me run up to the front office and ask these people if they even know who we have to take care of.

Thank you for all the prayers. My poem "My Little Boy Blue" comes from the heart. Thank you for the compliments on my poem in the poems forum! Well, it's time to get this little guy into the tub and prepare for the early morning journey. I feel SOO very blessed to have all of your prayers. My ex stopped paying child support again, and boy it's hard enough with a child who has so many needs. I am trusting and believing the Lord will provide. I am hoping I will be able to go back to my job on Wednesday and that surgery goes without a problem.

Hello my very dear minglers/friends.... today's surgery went by wonderfully. The hardest part was when they had him down on the table with everyone holding him and the mask over his face and they told me to give him a kiss and say goodbye. I began crying as I left the room.... they should have NEVER said to say goodbye. Well, I am an emotional person to begin with and my son has my heart. We came home and put up the tree and some decorations for the holidays. I can not tell you how HAPPY I am to share in his life. For those who don't know, my son is adopted and many people apologize to me when I say I have a son who has Down syndrome. This little boy did not grow from my womb, but he certainly has grown in my heart and there is nothing to apologize for.
He has taught me the most wonderful things.... and those things are quite simple. Yet the simplest thing of all is to love and do so with all of your heart. |

Give Noah some big hugs from Christopher!!!! I have learned that I don't say goodbye when they wheel Christopher away for all of his procedures. I always tell him "I'll see ya soon, love you!" Amazing how these little people make our hearts melt. I know exactly how you feel about Noah, Christopher does the same for me. |

I cry when I have to leave my son for surgery too. You know you have to be happy they let you. It surgery, should the unthinkable happen you would be so glad for those last moments. When everything's fine you chide yourself for being silly. I am very glad both mom and son are well. |
