I'm a teacher of 2 yr olds. If one of my kids falls down outside, gets back up and is crying ... I first inspect them for any blood. and if there's no blood I tell them to brush their hands off and then to go play. Sounds horrible but if the damages aren't worth a band aid and a clean up ... then I believe tough love should come into play. I was never a a fall down and cry kid. I just got back up and continued whatever it was I was doing.

See, this is what I do with manO. If there's no blood I tell him to get right back up and play. Sometimes he cries and pouts around, but eventually he walks right up there and gets in the jump rope line again.
well ya nO...it does hurt...ohwell

How the hell is school supposed to do all that?

That's a hell of a list.
By increasing the School funds throughout the States to have enough monies to have enough teachers and classrooms that TEACHERS CAN REALLY KNOW THEIR KIDS,,and give them that special time to see think and feel about whats going on in their minds and lives everyday,,to TRY and pull them away from the bad,,and to SHOW THEM a better meaning for their life can grow doing...
YES MORE TAX DOLLARS TAKEN AWAY FOR SCHOOLS,,
and I WOULD GLADLY GAIVE MORE for THAT...
I had a teacher bash my head into a wall in Fifth grade,,He took my head between both his fat hands and repeatedly banged my head against the concrete wall,,and YET that teacher made me HATE school
I had one in forth grade who knew my beatings from my dad and knew I was playing sick at home because I talked funny,,and kids picked on me,,SHE BROUGHT THE WHOLE CLASS ROOM TO MY HOUSE, and I told her I would be going back that next day...BOTH TEACHERS were over the top,,in each of the good and bad,,,but yet I know that the personal embrace That the GOOD ONES had over me,,was what in fact saved me from the bad side of life,,My speech therapest was a little tiny old lady maybe about 65 years old or looked it anyway,,IF not for her KNOWING ME,,and the beatings and my hurt and pride,,I WOULD NOT BE TALKING IN A NORMAL VOICE NOW,,she gave me one on one instruction hands on MANY TIMES,,for me to feel her mouth move and her hand on mine to make mine move right,,she done that with her teachings to me for eight years,,and I owe her more than I could ever repay,,,ALL BECAUSE SHE CARED and because she was ABLE to have the school time to do that...
Americans TALK like we need better education and more Teachers,,BUT,,they ALL cry when its time to give the Schools MORE MONEY,,IF even TEN KIDS for each school had the experience I had and felt through the ones who cared,,This world would be richer in its giving and its adults,,,
Teachers are sometimes THE ONLY ONE TO KNOW A CHILDS HOME LIFE THEY HAVE...and THATS just PART of their awareness to have within them..

I'm sure the folks in the white house right now are thinking of one main thing "how do we keep this country and our jobs from sinking?". Giving more money to the tax system at this point is not going to fix a thing. We as big kids are going to need to step in and set the right examples by getting involved like adults did when things did work. We understand abuse more than we did and we have many opportunities to get involved in children's lives in person or support ground root organizations that are not government based to get the job done. For the next few years at least our government is going to stay in war with each other and in the meantime we are going to need to do much of their job ourselves.

A public school in Toronto has put a ban on most balls their kiddos toss around during recess because school administrators have deemed such projectiles dangerous. Well hello, wittle wussies.

Hey, I’ve got an idea: Maybe we could get the overzealous Canadian ball-banner to take Holder’s job at the DOJ. Think about it. Given this Canuck’s proclivity toward protection I bet he’d make certain that thousands of AK-47s would not be purposefully given to Mexican drug cartels (which they could later use to kill our border agents).

What’s that, you say? Dudley Do-Right can’t serve in the DOJ because he’s not a proper U.S. citizen? Why, sure he can! Obama could help him hop over that hurdle because he’s a specialist at getting around constitutional conundrums. Anyway, I’m getting off track by dreaming. Allow me to get back to freaks who forbid footballs.

Banning balls? Sure, that’s what we need in the 21st century … baseballs, footballs and dodge balls barred from this crop of squashy kids. Are you kidding me? As if North American kids weren’t lame enough already, they now have Nerf balls to prep them for the real world. Hey, Earl Beatty Public School: While you’re busy outlawing hard balls, why don’t you also mandate that everyone in your school wear pink tutus, chartreuse neckerchiefs and signs on their butts that say, “China and Islamic Radicals: Kick Me Hard.”

In this day of Puss ‘n Boots squish, do we really need more softies who don’t have enough sense to avoid getting hit in the mouth by a slider? Getting rocked up in the face by a fastball could be the best thing that ever happened to your stupid kid. Pain is God’s way of telling your lackluster boy to quit texting and watch the game.

I hate to break it to you, molders of young people’s minds, but life—like sports—is dangerous. If you remove potential playground danger from the educational equation then you’ve effectively dulled young people to both the risks and rewards that living in the batter’s box brings.

Great post!!!

For the next few years at least our government is going to stay in war with each other and in the meantime we are going to need to do much of their job ourselves.

The White House isn't thinking right now,,or for that matter in a long while,,about our Countries jobs,,or much about its Citizens as we stillremain in two battle zones and they are talking THE NEXT PRESIDENT NOW?
Thats their real focus of concern as they(Senate) block MOST of the passing bills that would start the ball rolling in that direction.
WHAT I was saying is the FACT that IF WE as a caring Country,,TRULY,,we would have better scool systems where a child could never come to school with a weapon as they would have security and detectors already in place to prevent that from happening..YES,,we have come to THAT point in our kids lives,,and as caring parents to protect them all..
Our Gov. has been consoladating DOWN all the School systems and their Teachers for over ten years now,,and their STILL being pushed into smaller classrooms and adding MORE students to each one,,and leveling the old buildings BUT NOT building new ones,,like our Prisons being that same pacted in enbodiedment of lives..
IT takes money to build and buy what our kids and US need to have in place for them to be educated in and by whom..and as pliticians TALK that they will get and fight for more funding,,THE STATES all cut the education funds FIRST before anything else..
i am so sick of American voters feeling that TAXES and monies given within its functions,,ARE SOMETHING NEW to this living here,,I'm 54 and have always paid taxes and SS...and THAT IS AMERICA!
I don't mind funds for our schools, kids teachers, prisons, jails policemen, firemen,,and THAT to me should be above new roads being built. Yet they also need their funding...but WE BAILED OUT BAD GAMBLERS,,in the Wall Street melt-down,,,,YET,,we can't have the Worlds best School systems,,or prisons systems where their REALLY TRAINED in something while in Prison to do when released.
Sorry but I drive past many States and Cities now for thirty years and seen the demolishing Schools and the crowded prison yards.
IF we REALLY CARED ABOUT EACH OTHER AND ALL LIFE HERE,,,
WE WOULDM"T BE having this conversation,,as ALL of THIS,,would be in GREAT SHAPE! That SAME as for the Industries we have allowed to be broken down through letting foreign trade come in and under sell their cheeper visions of our products..to US...
We lost in one year, Industrial Factories that built their Businesses here over forty and fifty years to perfect and hire its vast employees,,,many with over twenty years of their lives invested in that factory...WE LET THEM GO,,,Buying CHEAPER GOODS!
Now WE DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPEN??? Please...MONEY is ALL that the runners of this Country THINK ABOUT,,,NOT ITS PEOPLE!
Theres my BOOK,,,LOL

We've been making them wimps who cannot face the real world as soon as we started giving trophies to players on losing teams so they wouldn't feel left out.

And then we do away with honor rolls because they are unfair.

The one per cent must have really worked their arses off at that rate.

Surprised that they have the energy to enjoy their hard earned wealth.

Pressing buttons on sophisticated computers is really hard workdrinker

I want my children safe, but I also wan't them to be able to see danger and think for themselves.

My children have grown up playing with whatever is closest, balls bat's, fire, motorbikes, knives, horses, snakes, spiders, climbing trees, swimming in dams, anything that can be moved and played with is pretty much allowed.

Out of my 6 children there has only really been one who was constantly in hospital with some sort of damage, normally they just glued whatever had been cut or split open back together and he was off again. He was and still is the wild child, he had no fear and saw no danger, but by the time he hit around 8 he had learnt that if he didnt think through things, there would be consequences.
My other ch8ildren broke a few bones and did a few things but nothing major.

so far they have all survived they are all responsible young adults, all could look after themselves if they had to, they can make confident de=cisions on what is right and wrong and don't need my direction on how to live their lives. Although I do tell them how to live it if I dont agree with them, Thats my job as i am Mum..

My children are 11, 13, 15, 17, 20 and 22, they are all responsible can make their own decision and deal with most things that life throws at them, none of them are wussie, no big deal, really a child is just a small adult who can easily hadle as much or m9ore than we can if we give them the chance to grow up with a little love and confidence in themselves.

And really even if the schools took away every possible item that could hurt them, Its us as parents that will mold our children, so if we dont turn them into little wussies, they won't be.

Half the time it's because wussie parent complain to the schools that their child was hurt that the schools have to stop certain activities,

I certainly agree with this...

I've always believed that you taught your kids what they should know...give them the basics and they won't go to far from their teachings...Learning self defense is on of the prime things they should know..that and respect for others. God, Family and Country...to protect and defend.

By increasing the School fundsquote]

Only if it can supply a 24 hour bodyguard/mentor/nutritionist who hand selects all of that kids friends and dictates every facet of that childs life.

....but, that is actually a parents job.

I sneer at the concept that my taxed wages should pay for educators and other people to have to be a parents just cause ome worthless pieces of crap who got no business being a parent decided to have sex.

I got no problem saving a child. What I got a problem with is thinking that other people should be held responsible for a childs being.

THAT IS THE PARENTS JOB.

I say we just whack the parents....It's an option.

Having a great time at Sea Camp http://mingle2.com/topic/show/315221. The kids seem to be a bunch of great kids. There are a couple sissies in the bunch, but not too bad. We ended the night go through oatmeal algae and find organisms within the algae itself. They learned phylums and how algae relates to trees. All in all a pretty tough bunch of kiddoes though.
