Occupy Wall Street - The rap sheet so far

189 crimes so far.

Tea Party rap sheet is still at 0 (perpetrated by tea partiers that is; a union thug did bite off a finger and some union thugs beat up a black guy selling flags).

I would think the mainstream media would be doing its best to tear down the OWS after all the corperate media is simply a propaganda arm of the business class.

I think the only thing holding them back is the fact that most of america supports OWS and to directly challenge them would further erode what little credability they have left.

Whose "definition" of crime are you using? Seems Most of the "crimes" are perpetrated against the protestors!

People not even involved in OWS are being mugged and arrested by police just going to their homes from work or shopping.

Jack booted thugs who beat and arrest 1st, then ask questions.

NYC police have $500M in suits for "wrongful" arrests and falsifying documents!

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/16/opinion/16schwartz.html

NYC paid more than $500 million over the last five yrs in settlements and judgments against NYPD...

The number of claims for offenses like false arrest and brutality has surged by 43 percent over the last five years;

The police are "leading" marchers into "protected" areas and then arresting them for trespass violations (the bridge for one....where they arrested 700!) for biased media reports.

If you're going to make a statement, back it up!

NY cops probed over assaults on OWS protestors

http://rt.com/news/protestors-police-demonstrations-inquiries-073/

New York police officers are being investigated over allegations they have used excessive force against Occupy Wall Street protesters.
A video, taped last Friday, has given grounds for one of the inquiries. An officer, thought to be a deputy inspector, was filmed apparently grabbing an activist from behind and punching him in the face so hard that he fell to the ground.

An independent agency that deals with complaints against New York police says it is also looking into an officer using pepper spray on a peaceful female protester.

The anti-corporate campaign has been going on for more than a month now, and despite the police handling and the continuing arrests, the numbers of demonstrators are growing.

Zuccotti Park in New York City has become the scene of thousands of demonstrators who converged over the weekend to show their support for what they called an ‘International Day of Rage’ – referring to the “occupations” and demonstrations that had spread across the world.

Thousands converged in Times Square where they were peacefully demonstrating, only to be met with an unprecedented show of force by the NYC Police Department. Approximately 90 people were arrested for taking part in those demonstrations. RT also witnessed instances of police officers on horseback riding into the crowd, and police officers on scooters injuring several protesters who had gathered peacefully.

As the demonstrations grow across the United States, so does the police response. On Monday morning, in Seattle, RT crew saw nine protestors arrested after about 250 of them refused to take their tents down.

Over the weekend, RT saw the arrests of more than 100 protesters in Arizona in two separate OWS demonstrations.
In Chicago, where thousands had gathered to show their support for what they call “a movement against corruption in Washington and on Wall Street”, about 175 demonstrators have been arrested.
Weekdays or weekends, despite growing police action, the number protesters continues to grow.

Meaghan Lenick, one of the organizers of 'Occupy Wall Street', told RT that NY police have been brutal many times in the past with protesters but they have never been held accountable for their actions.

When there are protests abroad the US government refer to them as ‘protests calling for democracy’, but when people protest in America the government focuses on ‘they do not have a message’ sort of thing. “It is a complete double standard,” Lenick concludes.
“People are out on Wall Street for a reason – they want to hold banks and financial capital accountable for what they have done to our country and our world.”

That list is inspiring!

I saw random crap about threats made against the police, public indecency, the famous 'defecating on police car' thing, etc etc.

Yes, OWS has attracted a lot of the riff raff. They are inclusive. The tea party would not have accepted large groups of drug addicts, homeless, and the mentally unwell to stay with them at their protests.

Also on that list of 'crimes' are many people getting arrested simply for assembling in public.

drinker drinker drinker

They have my respect.

That rap sheet gives me hope - that so many people are willing to face the legal system in order to stand up for what they believe in.

What else has happened this week in the mainstream?

We had Ex Penn State Pedophile Coach Jerry Sandusky

Ex-Israeli president to serve 7 years for rape

We had Rupert Murdoch tapping phones.

I wonder why in the hell the media is makeing such a big deal out of were people who have no toilets are supposed to go to the bathroom.

Lets face it the tea party rallies were staged events with porta poties and verry few people these mass spontaneous protests are not planned well and probably do not have the funding for porta poties.

I when you gather ten thousand people you will have all sorts of trouble, just like an nfl game with drunks in the parking lot going to the bathroom wereever they can get away with it.

If anything all the corperate media is talking about are the small % of trouble.

I am proud of the OWS and we need more like them to turn this country around.

Those are all crimes committed at the OWS protests. Which are themselves illegal, because they haven't gotten permits. It's unsanitary and risks epidemics by using the street as bathrooms, but they sit on their $500k in the bank and continue to use alleyways, parks where children play and doorways as bathrooms. It's disgusting.

What is the most inspiring crimes for you? Rape? Child molestation? Assault? Or maybe you are just into public drunkenness and defecating on public and private property?

Okay, so a OWS protester went around exposing himself to children. The point is that the OWS crowd has some real nuts. The crimes speak to the basic character of the type of people who will go without work, showers or basic sanitation for weeks on end while shutting down and hurting legitimate businesses.

The Tea Party movement is composed of more than 2,000 groups. They aren't organized. As for money and backing, the OWS groups have Unions and George Soros.

So both groups have rich benefactors, but only one group has a long list of misdemeanors and felonies, including two murders and multiple rapes.

the tea party seemed to be a highly political movement, they intiated with quite a bit of BIG MONEY backing(this was over a backlash about such things as government 'bailing out' homeowners, after all) and status at the ground level, IT was people with money(and some who were without money but still felt a threat) who didnt want their money regulated or used for others benefit.

this movement seems much more diverse, highly social, and was initated with much less big money or status at the ground level (it seems to be more about the common person who doesnt want big business and wall street to continue getting richer off of the backs of others who continue to be asked to sacrifice and struggle)

One of the Koch brothers helped to found one of the Tea Party groups, which has around 500 affiliates. So that leaves 1500 affiliates that weren't created by Koch. You are making assertions which the fact simply do not support.

The OWS movement includes lots of kooks, including conspriacy nuts of various stripes, especially racists. Neo-Nazis, jew haters and black power groups have all thrown their hats in with OWS. Of OWS, Wikipedia says the following: "On Oct. 10 and 11, the polling firm Penn, Schoen & Berland interviewed nearly 200 protesters.[40] Half (52%) have participated in a political movement before, 98% would support civil disobedience to achieve their goals, and 31% would support violence to advance their agenda." "31% would support violence to advance their agenda"!
