I do hear ya on that one but it was decided that long running threads should go in chit chat. Due to the reason those threads no longer deal with the subject and more of a chit chat theme thread. As well as letting the General Threads being able a chance and so the threads that are long running bury the new threads. If you look in the Chit Chat threads you will notice that most deal with threads that are brought up all the time time. Not letting the new ones have a chance. In General the questions have more of a chance of getting noticed. This is one reason everyone wants to post in there...even if it does not belong...

This is so confusing that is why I don't start a thread. I have too many other things to worry about. It is much easier to just post on everyone else's!
