Topic: Baby Hitler Parents Lose Custody of Kids | |

Parents who named two of their children "Adolf Hitler" and "Aryan Nation" lost custody of all three of their children Thursday, even though they say a New Jersey appeals court found no evidence of abuse, ruling the children have been taken away without cause, MyFoxPhilly reports.
“Actually, the judge and DYFS told us that there was no evidence of abuse and that it was the names. They were taken over the children's names,” Heath Campbell told NBC 10 Tuesday. However, the appeals court ruled last year that sufficient evidence of abuse or neglect existed because of domestic violence in the home, and removed the children from their Philipsburg, N.J.home. In protest, Heath and Deborah Campbell picketed with three other people outside of child services offices in Flemington, N.J., Tuesday, saying that the state has no right to keep their children away from them now that the court allegedly ruled that the kids were taken away without cause, NBC 10 reports. The case originated after the local ShopRite refused to decorate a birthday cake for the son, Adolf Hitler Campbell, and reported the incident. Adolf and siblings JoyceLynn Aryan Nation and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie have been in foster care since then. In January 2009, the Campbells told MyFoxPhilly that Adolf Hitler Campbell is just like any other 3-year-old boy. "It's not like he's growing up to be a killer or nothing like that," Deborah Campbell said. "I went to just to get a cake... it was a circus of racism," Heath Campbell added. At the time both parents acknowledge the hate behind their children's names. But say that was not their intention. "This is America, they say it's free, you have the right to name your child whatever you want to name your child, no matter what," Heath Campbell said. The parents say that a judge will decide by early December if the kids will eventually come home. It is a strange choice of names, by itself I Dont consider it abusive anymore than allowing a male to dress like a female. We have to learn a certain level of 'tolerance' for what might offend us in this country and although I dont necessarily agree with putting a child in a situation where they are MORE likely to be taken offensively, I dont want to see names being criminalized in any way.

tolerance,, if we arent defined by our biology,, we certainly arent defined by the names parents choose for us,,,
and the world gets more bizarre, but more 'tolerant' |

So you don't think kids with names Adolf Hitler and Aryan Nation wouldn't be the target of violence before they would be old enough to legally change their name? I think its a serious risk. Also the emotional trauma one could endure when they are old enough to realize what their names mean. Pretty sure these parents don't love their kids. |

You cannot assess how much a parent loves their child by what they name them even if it remains those names, anymore than you can change the belief system of some. Those names would probably make them tough, "A Boy Named Sue" theory here. They have a right to choose any name they wish for their children. Maybe she should make her own birthday cakes from now on. It is a free country and they can name their children whatever they wish. Obviously not what I would have chosen nor many others, but hey is Moon Unit Zappa or Dweasel Zappa any better or different??

What's Montague? It is nor hand nor foot,
Nor arm nor face, nor any other part Belonging to a man. O be some other name! What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other word would smell as sweet; |

I think kids generally go by their first and last names. Adolf may have some teasing if kids his age even realized or cared anymore, but Jocelyn would probably not have problems unless she went around advertising her middle names. Children can be bullies and we shouldnt put children in the position to be bullied, but we shouldnt live imprisoned by the fear of bullying either. Parents should have the right to name their children. As I said, we are becoming an ever 'tolerant' society. With children now being raised as a different gender than what they were born, boys going to school as girls and vice versa, and a society saying we must adapt, and accept their right to be seen however they choose(regardless of biology), we must adapt to and accept a child being who they are (regardless of their name). |

“Actually, the judge and DYFS told us that there was no evidence of abuse and that it was the names. They were taken over the children's names,” Heath Campbell told NBC 10 Tuesday.
I don't believe this. Taking someone's child is a serious matter. I've known people who had their kids taken away from them, and the were all in complete denial of the cause and circumstances of it. The'd tell this amazing and convincing story of being victimized by the state, but if you ever saw how the kids lived or how they were treated, you'd know they had their kids taken for a reason. So I'm doubtful that it was really over just the kids names, alone. But if it were: its totally wrong. Parents should be allowed to name their kids after racist genocidal maniacs if they want. As long as they don't call him Hitler'); Drop table students;-- ![]() |

You are speaking ideology. I am speaking reality. Yea sure we should all be nice. There should be no crime. There should be no hunger or disease or poor people. Would you tell you kid its ok to walk through Hells Kitchen at night because there should be no crime? Look this isn't the same as giving a kid some stupid name like "4 real" (which I have seen a court deny from somewhere in Europe). This is giving them names with things that associated with racism and white supremacy. This is basically putting a target on their kids backs. (no fault of the kids I am sure) These parents are obviously naming their kids for some kind of agenda. Putting your own agenda ahead of the safety and welfare of your child is not only wrong but in my opinion unloving. |

You could claim you had no idea people would beat him up over that. Adolf Hitler or Aryan Nation are two different things entirely. SO yea purposefully giving them a name that at its core is racist and promotes violence and racism you would be responsible if something happened to that child because of it. |

Putting your own agenda ahead of the safety and welfare of your child is not only wrong but in my opinion unloving. Its not that I think there should be no crime, there is no good without bac. I think crime should be prosecuted and penalized. This is different though than how we raise our 'children'. during the childhood years there is still time to learn and EXPECT tolerance. Kids may bully each other for any number of reasons, and thats why it is important to aknowledge and address bullying. IF it is not abusive to raise a boy as a girl, predicting the potential for the cruelty of kids it would likewise not be abusive to give them an offensive name. Especially if the names are middle names that they will, in most cases, not have a requirement to share. |

We CHOOSE what offends us and when we choose to be offended by what someone names their child...well, I would ask who really has the issues here?!?!
If the names are the basis of this story then there is a serious problem and it's not with the parents! |

That said .....Do you remember the Johnny Cash song "Sue"? A Boy Named Sue Lyrics Artist: Johnny Cash (Buy Johnny Cash CDs) My daddy left home when I was three And he didn't leave much to ma and me Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze. Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid But the meanest thing that he ever did Was before he left, he went and named me "Sue." Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk, It seems I had to fight my whole life through. Some gal would giggle and I'd get red And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head, I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue." Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean, My fist got hard and my wits got keen, I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame. But I made a vow to the moon and stars That I'd search the *****-tonks and bars And kill that man who gave me that awful name. Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July And I just hit town and my throat was dry, I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew. At an old saloon on a street of mud, There at a table, dealing stud, Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me "Sue." Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had, And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye. He was big and bent and gray and old, And I looked at him and my blood ran cold And I said: "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do! Now your gonna die!!" Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes And he went down, but to my surprise, He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear. But I busted a chair right across his teeth And we crashed through the wall and into the street Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer. I tell ya, I've fought tougher men But I really can't remember when, He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile. I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss, He went for his gun and I pulled mine first, He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile. And he said: "Son, this world is rough And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along. So I give ya that name and I said goodbye I knew you'd have to get tough or die And it's the name that helped to make you strong." He said: "Now you just fought one hell of a fight And I know you hate me, and you got the right To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do. But ya ought to thank me, before I die, For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye Cause I'm the son-of-a-***** that named you "Sue.'" I got all choked up and I threw down my gun And I called him my pa, and he called me his son, And I came away with a different point of view. And I think about him, now and then, Every time I try and every time I win, And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him Bill or George! Anything but Sue! I still hate that name! I guess these kids will probably feel the same way huh? |
