Well kids, I am personally terrified to date. I was married almost 30 years before my wonderful man passed away and I have been without him since Jan 2, 2009. The think I really miss most of all is his gigantic hugs and scooping me up when I would come to bed as cold as an ice cube....sigh....so how do people do this? Get over being married over half your life and let someone else in?

I dont think its something you should ever 'get over'. I just think you learn from it, cherish it, and use it to move forward in life instead of remaining stuck in the past.

I think it's actually easier to move forward when things ended well. so it was hard for me to form relationships of any kind for oooo 5-6-7 yrs or more when my 17 yr marriage ended. then when I met my ex boyfriend I was still pretty emotionally distant but were together for another4-5 years, and since that did end amicably, I feel more "ready" (whatever that is)

In my personal experience ... Men that want a woman in the kitchen with an apron and go go boots...don't like her to be independent. I believe they feel threatened of losing control of her. explode

try stilettos - then he really wont want to let go (be sure to know where he hides the whip) devil

a lot of us do not have much choice in the matter

it is what it is

men are ambivalent in my opinion

Granted, the majority of single women/moms, are the wage earners, the decision makers, the one that keeps themselves and their kids sane... As a result, it has in some cases, made men feel that they are redundant in all areas but one - if you know what I mean... has his had an effect on your dating experiences?

IDK - it's a good question - I haven't thought about it. I don;t feel that men are redundant. really enjoy them

in what ways do u think it might affect dating?

I really enjoy men as wellpitchfork

You are lucky that it hasn't affected your dating. Having thought about it a bit more, I think it's more about 'personality' types attracting a certain type of man.

well yes I guess that is possible - that we are attracted to a certain kind of guy so if u are usually with a man who likes a woman at home it might be a hard adjustment for him and some issues there.

but as far as other dating issues - if there has been one it's mostly been TIME for it and

also this is really another subject but the last time I dated (before marriage) the guys paid for everything and made the first move - definitely - it was never questioned. A girl was considered desparate if she made the first move and insulted if a guy didn't pick up the tab....tho I don;t think things have really changed that much - even tho some want to think they have - they have changed enough so that those elements of dating just confuse me....and I have tried to be more "modern" but it doesn;t work - it pulls TOO far out of my comfort zone - I yam what I yamlaugh

I'm a vegetarian so no bacon for me. But, I do bring home the broccoli!

I don't know of any guys who are intimated by an independent woman. Most guys I know prefer that. I have other issues that keep them away.

they SAY they prefer that....until it's time to make important decisions (about the relationship or whatever) then your opinion doesn't count more than 10% of the time

used to be - when we were all stay at homes - we just sucked it up -

women are far more likely to walk out on a dominant man who will not compromise now than 25 or even 15 yrs ago

and go elsewhere...

I think there are plenty of women willing to play less evolved to the masses. It's the men who appreciate evolved women that you have to look carefully for.

..personally it doesn't bother me one bit as long as she brings me chocolates and flowers and tells me i'm pretty every once in a while.. jk..seriously it doesn't bother me one bit whatever it takes to get by..i can work with it...smokin

You are absolutely right. I'm not particularly bothered if my future partner's a brain surgeon or a pig farmer as long as long as he is comfortable in his skin and knows who he is and what he’s about.

There are still men out there that women who carry condoms with them on dates are considered slappers (whores) whereas it’s ok for guys to have them in their wallets…

And keep her pregnant, barefoot and ignorant of the fact that round wheels are all the rage  laugh
