Pastor Orders His Flock to Beat Gay Couple Arriving At Church

No one would be surprised to learn that there are right-wing Christians in this country who disapprove of homosexuality. Neither would it come as a surprise that in rural parts of this country, Christianity and homosexuality when brought together, can create a highly combustible mix.

But who could imagine the hate and rage that would motivate a Pastor to instruct deacons and members of his congregation, Grace Fellowship Church in Fruitland, TN. to physically attack a couple arriving in the church parking lot last Wednesday?

The fact that one of the gay men attacked happened to be the Pastor’s own son, Jerry Pittman, Jr., no doubt contributed to Pittman senior’s noxious edict. According to Pittman Jr., after hearing his Dad yell, “SICK’EM!:”

“My uncle and two other deacons came over to the car per my dad’s request. My uncle smashed me in the door as the other deacon knocked my boyfriend back so he couldn’t help me, punching him in his face and his chest. The other deacon came and hit me through my car window in my back.”


The attackers also verbally assaulted the couple continually with anti-gay verbiage which continued even after a Sheriff’s Deputy arrived on the scene. Bystanders and other congregants made no effort to stop the assault. For that matter, neither did the Deputy Sheriff. Once the barrage of punches ended, the Deputy refused to let the two victims press charges.

Jerry Pittman Jr. and his boyfriend, Dustin Lee, have since filed charges against two of the men who beat them as well as Pastor Jerry Pittman. A hearing has been scheduled in Gibson County Court for Tuesday, October 4th.

One can’t help but wonder if Pastor Pittman really thinks Jesus would back him up on this assault?

People never cease to disturb me.

Christians and liberals have a lot in common, they both are tolerant only if you agree with them.

It seems funny to me that you call them ight wing chrustians....there are no christians in the left?

It seems left wingers from my understanding whether they are christian or not do not believe that gayness is a crime. I can't say that for sure as I am not left wing nor christian.

I find it hard enough to believe that I expect to find it on snopes in the near future,,,,


this is not like any 'christian' congregation I have ever heard of,, not to mention even christians understand what a crime is,,,

i hope those attacked filed charges against the attackers and sue the church as well if not for money the removal of the father/paster and deacons for behavior unbecoming the position they hold

I agree this remains a sick form of christianity.....and a famlial abusive situation not being addressed within the US....and christian heretics come in all forms...and criminal and hypocrites hide behind many doors.....yes I hope they were arrested....even if the victim didnt file charges the burden falls to the state to charge the the criminals on behalf of the victims....

ummm..........where do you think the term "sheeple" comes from? Church perhaps? Not saying it happens everywhere in all churches, but combine shallow hatred with an authority figure egging violence on, and pandemonium is the likely outcome.

We know there are Christians of all types.But that just wouldn't fit the agenda of the OP...

I am not a catholic,, but I imagine 'sinners' are quite abundant in churches,, some seeking to change and others hiding,,,,

no congregation I know of however, would behave this way collectively towards another,,,

I wasnt takling about catholics, but thats another obvious one, there are several christians too committing the same crimes---as everyone else...but they use their bible as a shield NOT the shield GOD intended it for, but the BIBLE becomes their mask!

people also use schools and other positions of authority to commit crimes against children,, but I dont blame the institution of education for it,,,sick people do sick things and they use whatever resource is available

Just about every religion has its share of nutjobs. In the south the kkk had always had clergy members of their local churches as members, The spanish inquisition. Whatever jihad is going on at the moment. Really its all a bunch of hate and ******** in the name of a god and its stupid.People have always sited religion for the use of violence. I am catholic and for most of your information gathering pleasures most other protestant christian religions branched off of Catholicism. Its not unheard of even if it is wrong.
