Vice President Joe Biden acknowledges that it’s time to hold the Obama administration’s feet to the fire for the sorry state of the U.S. economy instead of continuing to blame President George W. Bush.

“Right now, understandably — totally legitimate — this is a referendum on Obama and Biden and the nature of the state of the economy,” Biden said during an interview with South Florida public radio station WLRN this afternoon.

Biden made the startling comment during an interview in which his main goal was to pitch for support of President Barack Obama’s American Jobs Act.

The vice president dismissed polls in which people continue to blame the Bush administration for the economy.

“Even though 50-some percent of the American people think that the economy tanked because of the last administration, that’s not relevant,” Biden said. “What’s relevant is we’re in charge. And right now we are the ones in charge and it’s gotten better, but it hasn’t gotten good enough.”

“I don’t blame them for being mad. We’re in charge,” Biden acknowledged.

A lot of silliness going on here. Biden's statements were correct. Everybody understands that the Bush Administration is going to skate on the wreckage and carnage of their Depression from 2011 forward. 70% of the people understand that Bush did it, but now, Obama is rightfully being held to account for how he is dealing with the mess. Biden is with a huge number of Democrats (me included) who know that Obama has done a miserable job of fighting for a healthy economy. In fact, Obama is almost perfectly following in the footsteps of FDR, who only reluctantly adopted Keynesian policy. He does own the economy, and he had better move to bury the Republicans alive if he wants to have an easy walk-in to the 2012 Presidency.

Now I will go out on a limb and agree with JB that the economy is in no way 1 mans fault. Then again the man did campaign on a platform of change which I haven't seen much of a positive change and the lack of meeting that campaign slogan will probably cost him points later.

which issues and by what degree they expected them to change

many things have changed, historical things even, under this president(DODT and Healthcare for two)

but other things have not gotten better quick enough although I still believe they are better than they WOULD have been had he not taken the actions he did,,,,
