Well sheesh, a woman in her 50's isn't some shriveled up old hag. And what if the younger guys keep hitting on her?? Does that make her a Cougar? Or is it only when she does the pursuing? Apparently some people think it's a big joke and hella funny if an older woman flirts with a younger man. I wonder how you'll feel when you reach that age? Getting older should not mean that you give up on love, or desires, flirting or plain old hot sex. Just saying...

I was merely responding to this, "There's a bar around here where lots of "cougars" hang out. It's a bunch of older ladies, probably 50s or so, and several younger men as well as older men. It was actually pretty funny to watch."

But yes, it was amusing to watch some of the ladies in their leopard print dresses and stilettos hitting on much younger men. Sorry you took offense to that. |

I want to point out that this question is relative. Everyone's answer would/ willbe different. I know some "cougars" go out looking for cubbies. But I think most cougars just end up finding that a younger man can be just as compatible with them as an older man. Exactly right. Life is short, but immaturity can last a lifetime.

Thanks, it's relative but is it about maturity or age differences? neither it's about compatability most "cougars" or whatever who I know do nor pounce. younger men genrally seek them and the age difference can vary. I prefer not to be referred to as a cougar. I think a man who is a gentleman at any age will do the pursuing - at least it is my preference so I do NOT pounce - until the pouncability has been made known

I think a man who is a gentleman at any age will do the pursuing - at least it is my preference so I do NOT pounce - until the pouncability has been made known I think in some cases it is about compatibility and in other’s it’s a way of life. Although I am relatively certain that I don't have any cougar tendencies, I can admit to almost being tempted by someone 10 yrs my junior.. Sweetestgirl (whose profile I keep clicking on by mistake  ) is right. I think it starts with the person and the age gap becomes irrelevant. |

I always feel like cougars are older than me. But, I guess anyone can be considered one if they go for men 10+ years younger. That's too young for me, though.

In my case, he was someone that I met in my everyday life and he pursued me like a man pursues a woman. There was no insincere flattery, no sleazy chat up lines, no idolisation... Just a guy expressing an interest in a girl BUT he was 10 years younger.
