If it were up to me I would have criminals fight each other in this thing called and "Arena" where they would also fight lions, tigers and bears! People would spend money to get in, they would support local businesses as local businesses would be the only ones allowed to set up and help our economy.

Pretty hard to argue that this is not a case of Government promoting religion. Don't think that conforms with the First Amendment. It's always bad news when renegade Government judges willfully flaunts the Constitution. Well worth complaining about.

Some kind of vouchers that they are claiming stop it from being government funded "church probation".

Religion solves nothing, we know this already.

Really? Sounds to me it solves the problem of risking anal rape.

Democrats like anal rape that's why they're offended by this.

They aren't trying to convert anybody. They want them to spend a
significant amount of time discussing ethical and moral behavior
for a change. Won't hurt them in the least. Not unconstitutional
either. It's like "community services".

laugh

Don't get all sanctimonious.

Yeah, because all church goers are ethical and moral.

Since religion doesn't help anything it is a waste of our money anyways but church or go to jail shouldn't be an option in this country.

Ok then just jail. If they commit a crime then they get jail.

America was founded as a nation which celebrates freedom of religion! Personally I think everyone should worship Oden, Thor, Loki, Baalder, Sif, Freya, Freyr and fear Finris!

it is not against the constution, they are given a choice... they would be in jail either way, now they have a choice...
Yea the choice, religion or punishment. No this is against the Constitution. No amount of pretending this choice is legitimate changes that.

Ok then just jail. If they commit a crime then they get jail.

YES, the punishment should not be waved for the religious. This is what we call fair and does not intertwine religion with government.

Not to mention America was founded as a Christian Nation.
This argument does not float, you can try to either a)make up facts, b) pretend many of the FF where Christians when in fact they where not, or c) just not give a dam about facts.

Even if all of the FF where Christians, that would not make this country founded on Christianity, the first amendment makes that clear: this is a secular nation with freedom of and from religion.

Lawsuit! And that's works for me!

If they want some sort of counseling, then let them choose a shrink. There's plenty of religious and non-religious psychologists out there who work far better then a Christian church. Helps with anyone who is and isn't a Christian!

so you people really think a church would hurt more than help? how sad, that you would rather see someone in jail than in church...no wonder this country is going to hell in a hand basket...

As a former pig with AZDOC I can tell you that jail/prison does nothing to rehabilitate people. Not that the inmates want to change, but it rarely happens in the pen.
