My dad is a former Marine, ex husband is Army. I have recently realised the LOVE I have for MILITARY MEN! I was raised to be a soilder. Thinking about joining a branch. Not to meet men but to prove to my self that I can do it. What do you guys think?

military is a good career choice, but in your situation you have more than just yourself to think about. seeing as you are raising a child, you would have to leave your child while you are going through training. that could end up being several months. if you feel you have enough support to help care for your child, then go for it

That's a personal deciscion that you gotta make for yourself Doll. The military is different things to different people. I served. It was nothing spectacular. Still, there is a lot of respect in general for those that serve us all with thier commitment, dedication, blood, lives and loneliness.

If it is what feels right....do it. If not, so be it. Life will go on one way or another.

I say go for it. I spent 20 years in the military and still enjoying spending time with the military now as a musician. Not only did I do some fantastic traveling, but made great friends, and learned a lot of great skills.

I'm not military,,and have never served,,I got my draft papers,,reported with a the thought I was gone.. But the Sargent there told me to disregard the papers,,as the draft officially ended two month prior to that day..
As a father of three now grown adults,,none went in the service..
IF my daughter were asking me NOW,,as you are here.
Would say to her,,is THIS something YOU,,,really feel that you want to do?
Is it something YOU think,,you can handle?
Different people in your face making you do chiit that you don't want to do..
IF your HEART,,is in it for YOU,,,not for your dad,,or to show your ex a new you?
And you can STAND ON YOU and YOUR DEVOTION TO FINISH IT OUT?
Then GO FOR IT..
IF you feel like ya don't know,,or feel you MIGHT fail,,,YOU WILL!
If you do this,,,,,DO IT!,,and BE,,,TRULY,ALL YOU CAN BE..

Many try and many fail,,,,,SOME TRY,,AND SOME MAKE IT FOR WHAT IT IS
A new life, a new way,,,You witnessed your family members rolls,,while serving,,so that helps you to FEEL,,all they went through to be..

I'm NOT trying to scare you out of this,,,but really,,if you do ANYTHING in this life,,,DO THAT TO THE BEST THAT YOU CAN..
And IF,,you were my daughter,I would recommend the Coast Guard FIRST,
Why? Because they have everything that the other Branches have,,,except THEY,,stay here in our States and shores,,and you can excellent Law Enforcement with their training,,and have a great career,,but NOT have to worry about being killed on foreign soil,,
You would still see a lot of action,,and stop some bad guys from bringing drugs into our boarders...
But,,again,,ITS ALL UP TO YOU,,,when you rest your head every night,,and NO ONE,,can or will,,walk in your hills,,,or your boots?
Can you tell yet I was a caring dad,,,lol..
My best friend enlisted a year before I got them draft papers,,HE,,never made it in the Corp,,,he lived in the brig on base,,getting drunk every time he was released,,so he got discharged.
My older brother served during Nan and received the purple heart, and did two tours there,,,he died five years ago,,to agent Orange
issues from that War....
Its all in your wants,,desires to be and do...
As a already Mother,,,THATS a hardship to START with,,for YOUR LIFE IS ALSO YOUR BABY'S LIFE....do what you feel in your heart,,,is the BEST FOR THE TWO OF YOU,,,and NEVER look back,,knowing YOU DID THIS,,NOW.
But PLEASE,,DON'T JUST SETTLE,,on being a minimum rage worker and fight life that way,,,get an Education that WILL,,give you BOTH,,a better life to live in and through...
Good Luck in all you decide to accmplish and do,,,Be Safe,,

Bulldog gave you the best advice imo. I served 4 years during Nam, and it isn't pretty from that point of view. But it was something I had to do (I enlisted as my draft lotto number was 320 or something like that). I'm glad I experienced it now, I do have some fond memories.

One thing is for sure, you won't forget your time (although I try). If you get deployed, as long as you and your buddies keep your wits about you should be okay.

I served Army but I should've went Marines. Go Maarines if you have a choice, if I did it again i would. Better training and esprit de corps.

I just realized my title for this post is misleading.

I want to tell all military personal that I am so proud and care so very much for you all. I thank you for keeping our country safe. I am sorry for all the ******** you have to take. I'm disgusted by the lack of respect and love that is shown towards all of you. Thank you for your time spent in the service.

I served in the ARMY on active duty, overseas before 9/11 and I re-enlisted after 9/11

The military can be a hard way of life, so, make sure your ready for it.

Best of luck to you and I thank you for the respect you show our men & women in uniform.
