I had 2 of them

1985 Nissan 300ZX's

My red one was named "Scarlett",

and my silver one was named "Bullet".

Except my both had tinted windown, bras, and spoilers on the back!

Damnnnnnnnnnnn fast cars!surprised

I also had a 1970 "Superbee" with a 440 and a six pack!

Exactly like this one

Fastest car ive ever owned or been in EVER!

'85 Z's fast? Pfft.

But, even though I've never been much of a Mopar fan, I'll take a 'Bee' any day!
Dont hate!

I don't hate Nissans. They bring me alot of money. laugh laugh laugh laugh

My grandpa had a push button Plymouth!

When I was in high school, my neighbors had a push button Valiant with a slant six. It was fast and got good mileage! What a neat car!

A fast slant six? Ummmmm.... Those motors were practically bullet-proof, but speed demons they were not.

The big thing about making cars is the dies. They take these huge chunks of metal and shape them to stamp out fenders, hoods, and tops for each model (except for plastic cars like the corvette).

US law requires that makers keep parts for ten years. You can find parts longer than that from junk yards, aftermarket suppliers, etc., but it gets harder and harder as years go by. I heard that some of the body dies get melted down as scrap and others get sold to aftermarket companies. Maybe some are kept ...

It won't happen soon or maybe ever but wouldn't it be cool to buy a new car from any past year? ... any model ... any equipment

Ahhhh .... dreamland ....happy

Yep. By the time the OEM are done with the dies they're completely wore out and they sell them to the aftermarket manufacturers. That's why the cheapo body panels you can get don't fit worth a chit.

Good luck trying to find body panels (or most parts for that matter) for anything older than 10-15 years old in bone yards nowadays (especially here in the rust belt). When the price of scrap went up (along with the cash for clunkers thing the gov had) all the junk yards scraped all the older stuff they had. :(

You CAN by 'new' (old) cars. After DMC (think DeLorean and "Back to the Future") went under a guy bought the rights and all the remaining parts and still builds new ones. Of course it will cost you $60k+, but, hey.

The car was very light and had low initial gearing. I probably was never in it over 60 mph but it was a lot of fun from zero to forty or so and was definitely quicker than my Chevy two with a six.

They were pretty light (around 2500 pounds). Low gearing would help it a bit especially for the 0-40, but still not what I'd call fast. My Mustang weighed about the same, but had a 260 V8 (with about 20 more HP and about 45 more on the torque from the factory compared to the 225 and 65 more hp and 100 more on the torque with the 170) and even then the best I can get out of it was about 7 seconds in the 0-60 with a LOT of tweaking.

The straight six's Chevy had were bullet-proof as well with about the same power (and the early ones weighed about the same), but they were kinda slow. The biggest part of that was because most of them had 'highway gears' and a Powerglide tranny. Indestructible, but far from a race car. My first '69 Camaro came with a 250, PowerGlide and 2.73 gears and well, sssllllooooowwwwww. Then again, that car also weighed about 1000 pounds more.

It could drive anywhere i wanted to. Being quite independend. It was also a great car to sleep in during long travels. I don't like fast rides, 100km per hour was perfect comparing to madness with friends Alfa Romeo. And to be honest I just love driving through deep mud instead of solid roads :P
