It's uncanny how the mere criticism of a Republican politician automatically provokes a discussion of President Obama.
Before you continue attacking Perry as a zealot, consider this.

OK, I considered it. I didn't find it very meaningful. I'm more interested in the potential Perry/Dominionist/Tea Party coalition.

I'm just now reading an article about how Perry has overseen more executions than any other Governor in modern history. I'm especially interested in the story of Cameron Todd Willingham's execution.

Perry is not a nut. He is a moderate governor of a conservative state that is doing far better than the country in general in large degree due to low taxes and general business friendly nature of the state government.

The article is a left wing "hit job" and I am sure we will see many more to come. Perry's name gets put in the title and his picture is posted predominately while the actual article is about other people. The church function was a gathering of many groups and the one featured in the article only had a part to play, they did not organize the event under the direction of Perry as it would have you to believe.

People should learn to recognize propaganda when they see it. Perry makes no excuses for being religious as most past presidents of the US have done. He has done nothing crazy as a governor and it is unlikely he would do anything crazy as a president.

Ok, here's something from the mouthpiece of conservatism, Fox News. Here's Perry response to Neil Cavuto as to why he isn't as popular in Texas as elsewhere:

"I say that a prophet is generally not loved in their hometown. That's both Biblical and practical."

Sure sounds to me like he's been drinking the prayer warrior Kool-Aid.

Sounds like a witty comeback to me.

I don't know if Perry really believes the religious stuff he says, but he sure has a reputation for being an opportunist. A Tea Party/Dominionist/Perry coalition could be a very powerful force in Texas. I doubt it would get him very far up north. Even Karl Rove isn't so in love with Perry. Tensions between Bush/Rove and Terry go way back

To borrow that oft' used quote from Fox News, "We report. You decide."

And in the same vein, there's his role in the website "The Response":

http://theresponseusa.com/

He's listed first and foremeost in the 'Leadership' section, and elsewhere on the site, he makes statements like this:

There is hope for America, and we will find it on our knees … [a]s a nation, we must come together, and call upon Jesus to guide us.”

Your probably right. The MSM will jump all over it to try and destroy Perry.
Unlike Rev Wright and Obama.

No I don't really care for Gov Palin. And don't see her as a legitimate candidate for president.

I think the same thing. I thought the same thing about Obama when he ran for president. I think both are opportunists who do not possess the tools to govern properly.

The MSM will try to divert as much attention as possible from Perry's experience and the good jobs record in Texas.

thats a joke right?...lol
the MSM was so obsessed with Wright and OBama that OBama had to give a PRESS CONFERENCE to publicly announce his DISAGREEMENT on some of the Reverends opinions,,,,

I doubt Perry will feel the pressure to do such a thing.

Executions are not a good point anyway for a president.

That needs to go on my list of "nots" when voting for sure.

Agreed, it was a circus with the Wright thing. As if anyone agrees with everything their pastor says on pulpit anyway.slaphead
Also agreed that Perry will not suffer that fate.

You are right and as long as he keeps up his nutbag stuff he will ensure Obama a win next year too.

And let's not forget Bill Ayers one of Obama's friends. A man who advocated killing Americans and wished they could have done more. And won't apologize for it.

Until republicans and democrats learn to compromise for the best interest of the country, this country will go nowhere but down. They must cut services and increase taxes. Its the only way. This counrty needs leadership with the balls to do what needs to be done. Obama has already proven himself unable to stand his ground. And maybe Perry believes in the death penalty but the upside is Texans aren't paying food and housing for too many death row inmates. And when it starts raining frogs in my neck of the woods....I'm getting my eyesand brian checked.....just to make sure I am hallucination free

Perry's experience and the good jobs record in Texas.
I never thought of expediting executions as a very good way to cut Government spending. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. Texas loves its death penalty.

It was eery. I had just finished reading John Grisham's last novel about how the State beaurocracy, negligence, political expediency and arrogance results in the execution of an innocent man, even in the face of an iron-clad confession of the actual murderer. For some reason, Grisham chose Texas as the venue for his novel.

It was just at this time, I heard about the execution of Cameron Todd Willingham, who Perry executed even in the face of strong evidence that the fire that killed his children could not have been caused by arson. Perry even fired the investigators who were raising the issue. Oh well.

well ultimately our constitution prohibits a state religion

it's just dollar chasing - they want the power (dominionism) for the same reason everyone else wants it - there's a lot of money in it

the very dangerous element is that they feel they are above the law, and in this country that is treason

but do not take them lightly, people

'friend' is a pretty big stretch

and I dont recall OBAMA expressing those views, nor do I believe people have to be in agreement with each other on all views..even married couples arent,, why should any other 'relationship' imply it?
