This is their actual wedding photo.....

FINAL KISS

Their silhouettes stand in the doorway.
Staring deeply into each others eyes.
Thoughts of the night before, and moments of tears.
Feel so much heavier then ever before.
Memories of all the years gone by before their final kiss.

With tenderness & kindness she kisses him goodbye within her soul.

Home sweet home at times, are a passing memory from where he is now.... (Iraq)
He still hears the distant childish laughter of his children hidden upon the wind.
The memories of her standing in the doorway of his life, he simply can't forget.
As his body begins to shakes from the coldness and his eyes' slowly grow dim.
Within his heart and with his last breath he remembers their final kiss. (He dies from wounds)

With tenderness & kindness she kisses him goodbye within her soul.

The angels gather quietly upon the battle field of life.... (His funeral)
The family stands in silence as the bugle floods the air with grief an strife.
Flags are given to his family while she sits their remembering the final kiss.

She's at home now staring at wedding pictures as a widow longing for a moment longer within their final kiss.....

Note:
(This Dedication & personal remembrance on the anniversary of his death)
I wrote this short poem\story several years ago.

This is their actual wedding photo.....

My nephew was killed in Iraq, while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He left behind his wife,
three children, family, and friends. He died of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device.

Please keep the soldiers, and their families in your prayer.flowerforyou

Thank you for sharing this. Sad and steeped in hopeless pain for her. I have 2 Marines. Both have served in Iraq. My oldest, a Gunny ready to retire is being deployed to Afghanistan. My heart prayers for you, his family. Again, a beautiful remembrance.

There are not enough or even the right words that would express the heart renderings in a moment of this time. Gunny has TBI..traumatic Brain Injury which the government wouldn't recognize, then did and now has deemed he is fit again for combat. We have lost many in the name of money. I am deeply saddened for you and your family.
