Topic: Why did they die? | |
---|---|
spider before we pulled out of nam civilians were being killed (remember napalm, aggent orange, mei lai, ect)that war was not winnable just like this one. And it seems the most gung ho people for war is ones that have not been there or have no stake in it,as a son daughter sibling etc. dying in it. A war fought for oil under the guise of fighting terrorim is not a ritecious reason to die for!!!

Mikey117,
Vietnam was winnable. We were winning on almost every battlefront. When we pulled out, the enemy was retreating and being slaughtered enmass. |

Sigh, Wars are caused by those who are selfish or angry. Notice how Bin Laden didn't get in a plane himself and take part of 9-11.
Of course you can say the same about President Bush and you are right, the days of Generals taking part in the battle are long over. Sadly wars happen and when wars happen, people die. Please keep in mine that there was a volunteer army on both sides. The fundamentalist Muslim sects who attack us, never had to, but in their beliefs they will be rewarded as martyrs if they die doing so. Then there are our brave troops who chose to fight and die for our country and the safety of the entire world. I heard someone say "Oh yeah? Well you sign up for the army then" to which I say no, not because I am a coward afraid to die, but because I am afraid to Kill... I personally am unwilling to take a life. |

seems Mikey has no Idea about Nam...just listens to the tales of the leftist socialist media....We could have won the war in half the time we were there..it was the congress (DEM controlled) that tied the Presidents hands, where it was a Republican or Democrat Pres.We were not "allowed" to capture any N. Vietnam land..we could only defend S.Vietnam from the ruthless Pol Pot and his Kmer Rouge. And yes..we lost alot of brave men and women, @65,000 of them over about ten years (depending when you actually define the start)but that doesn't compare to the 3.5 million innocent men, women and children that were slaughtered by the KmerRouge in the first 6 months after we left. (that figure is for Cambodia alone..this does not include the hundreds of thousands that died in refugee camps in Thailand and Philippines and other places that the vietnamese and Cambodians fled to. They killed everyone with any higher education then High school.Remember..we are talking just the first 6 months...some sources put the final figure closer to 6 million..on a scale like the Holocaust. And I know this to be true..I was engaged to a Combodian girl who was 8 years old when the Kmer Rouge came to her house and killed her Father (a Doctor) and her brother (college student)right in front of her...her other brother was also shot and left for dead..but they secretly nursed him back and went to a refugee camp in Thailand where her older brother and sister both died from starvation and disease...So to finish I say War is a terrible way to have to go..but sometimes there are terrible people that make the innocents suffer in mass and the only way to help or save these people is to fight the unjust. Vietnam was a just war...but thanks to the liberals in congress back then, MILIIONS of innocent people died...but you'll never here that part of the story on CNN. I guess it is what they want in Iraq now too....God help us all if Hillary or Obama ever get elected

Ya you are right Bush and cheney are doing such a fine job of F*cking up this country someone with integrety and belief in the constitution would really screw things up!!!

Mikey117,
Did you just say that Obama and Hilliary have "integrety and belief in the constitution "? You do realize we are talking about the Obama who hasn't allowed his white sister identify herself as his sister? The same Obama who offered a picture of himself and his grandfather's third wife (whom he wasn't related to) and claimed that the woman in the picture raised him? While he was really raised by his WHITE grandmother? And the woman in the picture? He had her labeled by his white grandmother's name. You do realize that Hilliary is the woman who broke a lamp that belonged to Abraham Lincoln by throwing it at her husband? The woman who recently said she had no idea who Juanita Broderick is? The same woman who defended her husband from a "vast right wing conspiracy", all the while knowing that he was a liar and adulterer? The same woman who had an affair with Vince Foster as testified to by an Arkansas State Trooper? The same trooper who was murdered while driving down the street? The same Vince Foster who showed up dead in a park still holding the gun he commited "suicide" with, making him unique in the world, because everyone else who has commited suidice with a gun has DROPPED the gun, while he was still holding it? The same Vince Foster who didn't bleed after he shot himself in the park? The same Hilliary Clinton who is married to Bill Clinton? The same Bill Clinton who told various women that he didn't have to use protection, because he was sterile due to a case of the mumps when a child? The same Bill Clinton who refused to release his medical records while president, as the law requires? |

Whew, that's a lot on Hillary and Obama. Still can't be any worse than what we've had to put up with over the last 6 1/2 years.

knoxman,
WAH!! Bush was authorized to go to war and he did! WAH!!!! |
|
|
|
AND, as I stated in another post, everyone, regardless of policy, should be held accountable. And, Spidercmb, old buddy, if you're so all-fired up for this war, I don't notice YOU running down to your local recruitment office. Why is that?
|
|
|

knoxman,
I agree, everyone should be held accountable. Should Bush be tried for war crimes? No. Should Bush be impeached? Probably not. He did screw up on the war, we needed more troops there, he was wrong. He had advisors who told him X many was enough and others who said it was far too little. Unfortunately, he listened to the wrong advisors. |
