Topic: Linux 3.0 Release | |

The daily build on 10/5/11 was a complete success! Now it has 'Welcome to Ubuntu' on the update manager. I was glad I read where it says doing partial upgrades was bad. I waited till it gave me a full upgrade. The kernel is at 3.0.0-12 and it is working great. It lets you do 'Current Nvidia Proprietary' driver and even comes working with the 173 driver until you make the change.

Kernel is now updating to 3.0.0.12-20. It stabilized at 3.0.0.12-14. I hope the recovery mode works in this upgrade.

Recovery menu is still read-only. 10/13/11 it will be stable anyways.

They are attempting to work on the read-only recovery menu. Some how it is tied into the Nvidia module at this stage. There is a hook that is suppose to come into play. Getting some help from Red Hat in the updates. The Lubuntu Software Center has been getting fixes. It is smaller and faster than the Ubuntu Software Center. It was just PPA but now for the last few days is stable. One gets the impression that the 280.13 driver will be updated to the 285.05.09 driver near the distribution release on 10/13/11. Just two days ago the LX Panel started to work better where one could have the panel at the top like the old Ubuntu 10.10 of Maverick and earlier releases of Ubuntu. Kernel at 3.0.0-13.21 and the recovery menu is being worked on. It is still read-only but it works then exit at read-only. But it lets ctrl-alt-del when pressed two times reboot. It lets you clean the grub2 if you used disk utility to take out a bad install on different hard drive. Which is cool.
