It is a bit tongue in cheek. No more NASA, no more astronaut. Timmy could be a cosmonaut!!

nasa is still there, they still have missions they are going to do... they just downsized it a bunch... there are still missions being planned., like sending a manned spacecraft to an asterroid, and a manned mars mission... both are years away tho...

we've had a space shuttle so we could service the space station and we've had a space station so the shuttle would have some place to go. now that we're not spending hundreds of billions just to keep astronauts safe in space perhaps little timmy will join nasa and get down to spending money on unmanned flight a can really tell us something about the universe. to paraphrase the late grat carl sagan, we've seen enough of humans doing zero gravity tricks in low earth orbit, now let's get down to some real science.
