I actually had a request from someone to become a mistress on this site. Since I had no interest in the request, i just thought it was amusing.

But I think it was good thing he clearly stated what he wanted.

In some cultures, having a mistress is totally acceptable. Especially when marriages are arranged.

You were the one who was asked, so I think it matters what YOU think. Personally, I'd take it as a compliment.

I wouldn't want to be someone's mistress but in a way it seems like I do that at work since I am a CNA. But then Mistress can be used as a title of importance, too. Good topic.

Yes, different possible connotaions to the term Mistress! I assume he meant "lady on the side", but you never know.

Compliments are where you find them - like, "you don't sweat much for a fat girl" - some see a compliment, others the start to a fight.

If you was ugly....you wouldn't be getting the request. So, technically, it is a compliment.

But, you are a nice looking woman....I would be suprized if you don't get hit on a lot. So, it is kind of insulting to even be asked to step into the position of "Second"....

I agree it is nice that he was upfront with you about it and did not lead you down a false affair in which you had no knowledge that he was involved with someone else and lost your feelings to him.

Ive been asked that before, or not so much asked, but also been told someone was married when they tried to get with me...I said no thanks. i dont have to be in a monogamous relationship, but i certainly dont want to be in an open relationship when there is a third party being kept in the dark, like a spouse or live in girlfriend. no thank you.

I don't find it insulting at all. Look, if he had put on this "nice guy" image for you, which made you like him, and then he showed his true colors, then yeah...be insulted. And also feel cheated. Fact is, he came up to you strong, told you what he was all about, left no if's, and's or but's about it. That is a dude owning up for who he is. Not many can say that.
