Yup. I admitted it on here for the first time a while back trying to make a newbie feel welcome.
I've been an RPG gamer since I was 9 y.o. Stuck with it as an adult because it helps in learning certain facets of writing. Always wanted to write a fantasy novel someday. I spent a few years studying Tolkien to find out what made his books so good. Read Moorcock, Zelazny, Donaldson, Saberhagen, all the Thieves' World books, Anthony, Lieber, Robert E. Howard, and George R.R. Martin. Of all those I have read, Martin makes the biggest impact on me as having come anywhere close to Tolkien. Currently, I'm in an online Old World of Darkness RPG which has been running for almost three years now. Soon we should break 100,000 posts. Oh, and George R.R. Martin is a gamer too. Apparently, he likes the superhero game Mutants and Masterminds, but he has been roleplaying since D&D first came out. |

I totally get off on the disappointment in "bait and switch". Same thing happens when I go to a retailer and experience it.

I'm talking about a play by post on the Australian RPOL (Roleplaying Online) website. It has over 4,000 games running on it, with a dice roller, an area to post character sheets, a scratch pad for notes, etc.
I've been in games with over 100 characters playing by post. Makes for some crazy big battles. |

Used to spend many hours playing pencil and paper D&D and other RPG's back in the 80's and early 90's. Still play computer RPG's and fantasy based games(currently replaying Titan Quest and Two Worlds)
Huge fan of any of the Harryhausen fantasy flicks, I love all of the sword & sorcery flicks that came out in the 80's- Conan, The Beastmaster, Lucio Fulci's Conquest, The Sword And The Sorcerer, Ladyhawke, Fire And Ice, Dragonslayer, Legend, Krull, Hawk The Slayer. And I'm a huge fan of the 80's British TV series version of Robin Hood- Robin Of Sherwood. |

My imagination needs an outlet and I try to find that in D&D type role playing.
What brought me to my love of science is science fiction . . . so much <3 to anything sci fi. Looks like you live in Jax also, I am moving back soon and have friends who still play. Perhaps we could get a good old fashion table top game going. |
