i would QUICKLY evaluate the situation and make a decision based upon my skills, ability, knowledge. i would not blindly dive into a river to attempt to save a drowning person. to me it is better to get the proper help than to become another person needing rescue

I like to think I would....I have never been in such a situation, so honestly, I don't know what I would do. Probably something like the bulldog said. |

I would save a child, but I'd expect an adult to know better. It depends on everything I guess. I wouldn't try to save someone, if it meant another death, to the death toll, as well as the person I was attempting to save.

would you risk your life to save somebody elses? I sure would... And would never think twice about it. "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." This is from the Bible, John 15:13. It is so similar to your question that I see them as one in the same. I believe that, and I certainly hope I would do it without a second thought. I've never been in that situation so I don't feel I can guarantee it. But if I didn't, I don't know how I would live with myself. |

(would you risk your life to save somebody elses} when you risk something the outcome is not guaranteed (Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends) here the guarantee is that your friends would be spared i'm not trying to correct, just understand your thought process |

I jumped a train once to retrieve a total stranger who was trying to go through it in its momentary stoping,,as it creaked by,,he was drunk,,staggering and half AZzz climbing falling trying to scale its side ladder,,he was on its platform by the time the train was bumping each car as to take off,,I was 15 years old and knew he might be killed,,so I climbed on and removed him on the other side,,just at that time our car was bumped as they all moved on,,about fifty cars watching this waiting at its signals ,,all started applauding and honking,,with thumbs up to us,,he just staggered away from the train,,unknowing any of what he just did,,
I walked on ,,thinking what a freaking nut,,,,BUT,,I could not just watch him get hurt or killed,,,Thats just one of life's deals,,and as we live on,,we have many of them happen,,I'd still do that again,,but give me ten more years and I might become that victim,,TRYING to save someone,,,,Lol |

I would hope so, but I've never been in that situation. I don't believe anyone sitting in an armchair can say how they would react when the poop hits the fan.

One night coming out of a restaurant late last summer, there was a guy who sort of had cornered his girlfriend in the parking lot next to the place I came from. I didn't know what was going on at first, so I sort of watched from afar, but it seemed bad. I totally froze though, didn't know what to do. Eventually they drove back down the road (both were in separate cars), and they were gone. I don't know what happened later, but it spooked me a bit, and I wish I had done something. The guy was intimidating though, and I'd never really been in a situation like that before.

I would, no doubt about it.
I haven't had a situation like that. But I have a kind of sixth sense. A lot of times I can see the danger someone is putting themselves in before the danger is evident. I have warned a few people, all of which were surprised I was right. Think I just notice how things interact better and can anticipate what will happen. |
