First....you get a glue trap, see? Now....these are meant to be folded....but don't fold it, O.K.? Just lay it down in a place where you can't step on it, dig? Now....in a day or two.....you'll catch that bastard. If you don't wanna' kill him....if he's still alive.....just use corn oil to free him from the trap.......

Do this in yr sink. He'll be exhausted from trying to get outta' the trap anyway. Release him. Chances are.....he won't come back but go on to live a happy life......

(laugh) No! Conventional traps don't work. Rats have evolved. They just eat the bait and split, see? They teach them this in rat school.......

Peanut butter works as a decent bait not many rodents or other small mammals seem to be able to resist its peanuty goodness.laugh

I've tried that.....but they just somehow manage to eat the stuff and not spring the trap....... One morning I woke up to find that I caught a piece of Kleenex. I'm still puzzled by that one.......

I made my own trap before when I was a kid from some discarded window screen and wires. It worked really well. I just wired the door of the trap so it would slam shut when the rat or mouse so much as touches the bait. :)

i've caught a ton with the no-kill type, you just take them out to the field and release them...

Terrible advice.

One - you shouldn't even be using glue traps in the first place.

Two - catch and release from a glue trap is stupid because you can do the same thing with a cage trap (minus the gory effects).

Three - glue traps are unnecessarily cruel and very unsanitary.

Four - Pouring oil on a mouse on a glue trap is a death sentence. Most likely it will be injured from struggling, the oil negates the fur's temperature keeping ability so it will die of exposure. The kindest thing to do is kill it.

And what is so funny about this? I'd like to know what's so funny about making an animal suffer like that. That is a good argument against using these stupid glue traps as any (they ought to be illegal).

If you want to catch and release, you shouldn't use glue traps in the first place. Animals will skin themselves alive on it, break their limbs and even chew them to escape. It's disgusting and cruel. If you want to kill them, use a snap trap - it's quick at least. Cage traps are better for catch and release.

There's no ifs or buts - allowing a creature to RIP PARTS OF ITS BODY OFF is completely inhumane and unacceptable. There are better ways, there's NO NEED for this level of cruelty. So spare me your "them or you" rubbish, you're just torturing them for no reason.

as much as I hate mice and rats I have to agree with you. Cruelty is not funny in any manner.
