just something I started wondering last night.
Most of the posters spend a good deal of time in the forums, so I was wondering if the same happens in other dating sites, and if we can conclude that the forums' activity is becoming some kind of lifestyle in our society.

Sure, this is definitely a sort of lifestyle. You get to know people here, there are those who become "favorites," you like to sort of cyberhangout with them, read what they have to say, etc. I can talk to people here who I would never have had any chance to get to know if not for this site.

Other sites? Well, a lot of them don't have forums -- so those people are basically limited to reading profiles, sending out e-mails, waiting for someone to send them an e-mail....I've been on sites that were practically skeletal, compared to JSH.

Of the few where I have seen forums, the majority of those are just rude, vulgar, nasty places.

Here, it's different. Outside of the occasional troll (and isn't it discouraging how SO MANY PEOPLE play right into the trolls' hands by responding to them? -- I swear, it's practically Pavlovian), most of the people here are really interested in communicating and exchanging thoughts and ideas.

That's the part I like, and I suppose it has become something of an addiction. But, where I live, there really is no practical or legitimate way to meet new people, so JSH serves as a sort of social outlet for me.

Which I suppose is kind of pathetic, but, eh, that's the way the cookie bounces....

Gets up, has coffee signs in, has breakfast checks mails, more coffee checks forums, has lunch. replies to mails, has more coffee, talks to guys on IM, drinks a coffee, posts a thread, has evening meal, coffee and maybe a beer, checks email again, maybe another beer, goes back to see who's posted on the thread I posted, another beer, talks to somebody else on IM, another beer, signs out, goes to bed.

Lifestyle? What on earth makes you say that?bigsmile drinker smokin glasses

Nope. It's an individual thing, it doesn't reflect society as a whole in my opinion.
