Trust has to be earned. It's not an easy thing to get. I used to trust everyone unless they gave me a reason not to, but not anymore, people must consistently work very hard to earn my trust these days.

I still trust everyone until given a reason not to and I believe whatever ya tell me (within reason) till ya give me a reason not to.
I'd rather meet a few jerks along the way then miss out on genuine
holy relationships.
I think we miss out if we put our guard up to tight...

He could not bring himself to say the opposite, so he went big time, and made a hyperbole of biblical proportions.

To make a lie believable, all you need to do to make it convinding is to serve it up as a pleasant news to the listener.

It's like the last time I was job-searching, the interview industry came up with a quesiton to ask applicants, 'what's your biggest fault?' They stopped asking that incredibly stupid question when everyone who was asked that question, replied 'it is that I work too hard.'

So the guy will probably tell his boss that he doesn't want the holiday, since he did not earn it with hard enough work, because his boss did most of his work load, so please, don't give him a holiday, but instead give him two month's worth of paid leave, and not discontinue his record of seniority with the company.

How fortunate for you, although it feels awful...all he did was show himself....it has absolutely nothing to do with you...you know if you are trustworthy or not.
